I want one for shooting skeet! That was so freaking awesome. However, the price of 1500-1600 is a little steep...3 times as much as normal shotguns.....

What do you consider a normal shotgun for shooting skeet?

A "skeet gun" is far from normal, it's a highly specialized piece of equipment designed for a specific task. Competitive skeet is shot in all gauges (12, 20, 28 and 410). Most competitors have a 12-ga over/under with custom fit insert tubes. It will shoot all four gauges and you have a real advantage of the sights, stock and trigger being the same from gauge to gauge. I don't know about your skeet shooting budget, but in the competitive ranks $1,500-1,600 gets you a nice tube set for your $5K+ over/under gun.

There is no question about the popularity of the Beretta autos; but, as a reloader, my Beretta of choice is an over/under trap combo. (If you shoot a lot of targets, you'll want to reload. If you reload, you don't want an auto throwing your hulls on the ground.) I have only one auto, a Remington 1100-TA with a second shorter barrel and screw-in chokes -- it's a good general purpose non-mag gun. I got it at a very good price from a friend who'd won it, otherwise I'd have probably gone with a Beretta auto. Just because my favorites are my tubed over/unders, it's fun to pop a few with an auto.

Beretta has been making guns since 1526, so I'm guessing they've learned a trick, or two. I wonder what surprises they'll roll out to celebrate their 500th anniversary in 2026.

I guess you could call me a VERY casual shooter. I only shoot skeet up at the Boy Scout camp, where we have a crutty trap system and regular hunting shotguns of 12 and 20 gauge. I never really thought of shooting skeet when I'm not up there, but I suppose I enjoy it enough that I could possibly get into it. I had no idea competition skeet shotguns costed so much otherwise I might not have had the same comment. Props to you for calling me out on this one. :great:
