With gas prices the way they are, do you think GM would kill off the Suburban?

They need to get the Suburban into the 20+ gas mileage range. Unfortunately to do it with the right technology, it would bump the already expensive price of a new Suburban.

I think as long as they make full size trucks, the cost to make the Suburban line would continue. But then I just read that they are closing like four truck plants. GM doesn't think the gas price issue is a temporary problem.

GM will always make what sells. High gas prices could kill the burb, but I doubt it. I am old enough to have remembered paying 25cents/gal for gas. They made burbs then and even when the price of gas quadrupled they kept them in production.

$4/gal gas is shocking, but we will get used to that too. They will probably shed some of the variants. The Hummer could go the way of the dodo, and we could end up with Tahoe sized version of the burb.

Of course GM did resurrect the Impala badge and put it on a much smaller vehicle, so the suburban moniker may live on.

I'm big on buying used so I will have plenty to choose from for the next 15 - 20 years.:glasses:
