Needed to tow my 2000 sububan 2500 so I could replace my fuel pumps, went through the sequence listed in the manual to get it in neutral, all went well. The promlem presented itself after I replaced both fuel pumps... I started it up in the netural position, it ran fine, it was when I tried to go through the reverse sequence to engage the tranny that got me into trouble. I tried to shift to D but no luck, noticed that I could move the selector lever all the way to P and down to 1 with the highlighted position of N on the dash not changing, the movement of the lever was very loose, not at all like the normal feel of it. After moving it back and forth a few times the highlighted position suddenly jumped to 1 and now I cannot get it back to P or N. I had to turn off the engine off and now cannot even start it back up! Is their any type of reset procedure that can get me back on the road? I tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours, no luck.

have you looked on the transmission to verify the cable is connected right? someone may have "Popped"it to tow. it is held on by a spring clip. this is the 1st place i look....mike

I did the towing, from one spot on my drive to another(about 75feet)- but I'll give it a check in case I knocked it loose while dropping the tanks!

Thanks,
