My low fuel notice illuminated with fuel at 1/8 tank. I proceeded to fill the tank which took an unexpected 25.65 gallons of fuel on a 26 gal tank. Evidently the sensor is bad and need to know what and how to fix.

My "LFL" comes on when I get about the same place. I have found that I usually have about 3 gal. left when it comes on. I usually fill it ASAP, as I don't trust it, although I don't know where the sensor is.

Yeah. Usually 3 gallons of fuel left when the low fuel light comes on. But less than 1/2 gallon? You are right; don't trust it.

I have a very similar problem but I think it's worse on mine. Whenever I fill up, the needle spikes up and down intermittently along with the low fuel light. It does it about every 5 to 20 minutes. and then after I burn a little gas, it starts spiking less often and sometimes not at all and reads more accurately. What the heck is going on here. Anyone??

that problem is typical for our trucks. most trucks around this year range due that. i've been told that it is the float sensor in the tank that is the culprit. if im not mistaken that sensor is part of the fuel pump and all has to be changed to fix the problem. i dont think its a huge deal just more of a pain in the butt than anything else.

Wow! Did you SHOVE the gas in there!?

No he uses an air compressor to pressurize his gas to put it in there. So it eliminates the use of the fuel pump.

I have had the same problem, it is the acending unit going out on you, evidently it will stop working all together. You can change it yourself (drop the tank and all that work), have a shop do it ($500+) or keep up with the odometer -- I go 380 and filll up. But hey I am lazy!!! LOL!!
