Okay,

So like an idiot, I've already put scratches in the paint on my brand new black truck.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about minor paint repairs and if I could do this on my own or not.

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

depends on how deep the scrach is...
it may be able to be touched up with touch up paint from the dealer ...

and you may want to try to take it to a local body shop and ask your options

Black is real hard to work with, but if the scratches are just through the clear coat, the body guys might be able to fix it relatively cheap. I've got some on the right quarter panel that need fixing, also. Good luck!

I have the same exact problem...and i live in south louisiana and since those last couple of hurricanes have come through our area there has been debris ,mostly tree branches, on the side of the road that like to stick out into the road and give your truck a nice scratch or two...hurricanes suck. When ever i can find the time i'm going to give it a good cleaning and wax job to see if i can buff out some of the scratches...I've seen comercials on tv for Nu Finish Scratch Doctor...i'm thinkn about giving that a shot

Often a good dealer/body shop will run your VIN and match the paint that way (to be exact!).

That way it doesn't look blotty or anything.
