My Chevy 2003 Silverado indicated 4 months ago my engine oil life left was "0". Although the oil indicator is still 3/4 filled today. How long should I go before changing the oil if I do about 40 miles a week mileage? I'm low on money...

As oil is the life blood of any engine, an oil change appears to be way over due.....I change mine at 3000 miles with dyno oil and 4000-5000 if using synthetic.

An oil change with dino oil (5 quart jub at Walmart) plus one extra quart is about $12 plus $4 for a filter....or have them do it for about $20 and save your engine...

The cost of a replacement engine is over $4000 today....

I change the conventional oil between 4 to 6K miles. The monitor tells me to change between 3 to 9K. Once the systems indicates its low I try to change it.

I change mine after 4000 miles or 4 months. I use napa fully synthetic and napa gold filter.

How many miles have you driven since the last oil change?
What do you mean by oil indicator? The engine oil dipstick? Or a dash gauge?

I like to change it in the ballpark of 5k and i use full syn. For you that would be like, what 10 months. Wow, I bet you dont burn through too much gas.

I use Valvoline Maxlife 5-30 Full Synthetic, And I use A/C Delco oil filter,I change the oil at 4500.

It's kind of funny that 3000 mile oil change has been around 30+ years! Technology has changed some...

I change my every 15000 miles w/AMSOIL 5W-30 and Eao filter.
