Just thought it would be fun to have a little Fall Festival / Halloween contest to see who's got the best Halloween story or costume idea/photo (PG-13 rating or less please!). I'll send the winner a GMTC Window Sticker.
So, got a story, or a great Halloween Photo to share, post em here and we'll choose one or two winners tomorrow.
Remember, this is just for fun, so no wagering please.

Me and my girlfriend at the time had gone to see a a late night scary movie with her brother and his wife. Well anyways, the movie is over at like 1 in the morning and i have to drop off her brother and his wife. We get to his house and my girlfriend says she has to run in real quick. 10 minutes later see comes out and we head back to her house. Once upstairs, we settled in and got ready for bed, then she says "I need my purse out of the car" I tried not to do it, but she insisted she needed it. So i go outside to my car, opened te door and reach in the back for her purse. As soon as i reached in someone grabbed my hand. I freaked out, slammed the door and ran back up the steps. There was my girlfriend giggling. I was like, "i think theres a homeless guy in my car". I was serious, but she just kept laughing. While im trying to explain to her what just happened, i hear rustling in the bushes and scrapping on the siding, now im really freaking out. 10 seconds later, her brother came out of my car and his wife came out from the bushes, obviously both laughing hysterically. Bastards!!!, lol

Did someone say Halloween?!
We finished carving our pumpkins tonight. It was the first year I let my oldest (9-year-old) carve her own pumpkin. She and her younger sister did the bat design themselves.
My 6-year-old drew a picture of a cat and I carved her design onto her pumpkin. I setup the candles, got the tripod out and took this shot:

I've also decorated the Denali for the season with this:

And took this moody picture last weekend:

Yesterday was a little different. Some folks showed up in large SUVs and a bunch of kids piled out ... there was one group of maybe 15 kids ... maybe 20. They appeared to be well organized and going neighborhood to neighborhood. Very interesting approach, some people really take door to door very seriously.

We live on a mountain and our side street is flat so minivans and SUVs drive in and drop kids off in front of our house. We get over 200 kids to our door every Halloween--and it's growing every year. When I'm out with my kids, I make them walk (run) to earn their candy but we have to be extra careful wth all the heavy vehicle traffic that invades our neighborhood!
You know what bugs me, though?
It's the parents who accompany their younger kids (no problem there) but who are obviously grabbing candy for themselves. I saw one mother dressed in full-masked costume with a trick or treat bag going door to door with her kid. How do I know? I was standing on the driveway waiting for my kids and I heard those 2 come out talking to each other!
Also, if your child is so young that they cannot walk by themselves (i.e. only 8-months old) please don't dress them up so you can go begging for candy. As a responsible parent, I truly hope you would not be feeding them the candy you are collecting door-to-door. If you want candy for yourself so badly, go buy some with your own money and leave the rest for the other "real" kids. Seriously, someone like that came to our door.
And last night I saw another mom dragging her 1 1/2-year-old daughter along the sidewalk telling her that they needed to get to the next house for more treats. The toddler who had a pacifier stuck in her mouth could hardly keep up!
They didn't look like unwed teenage moms, either. They were grown adult women! :grrrrrr:

That's too bad. It's why I'm so paranoid about leaving cars on the driveway overnight. I see houses with some pretty nice vehicles and I wouldn't be able to sleep on Halloween if I didn't park them inside.
