I was just looking around on eBay (as usual) and found that the chevy keyless entry remotes (or the key FOBs) are relatively cheaper than I thought!
Anywhere from $10 to $25, shipped, new. Some of these even have a key or two to go along with it. Significantly LESS than the dealership, that's for sure!
Thought I'd mention it!

Good call. If your truck has the DIC you can program the computer to the fob and probably bypass the dealer all together.

And... even better a lot of the sellers said they'd program the FOB for you.. bonus!
Yep...I'm considering going that route. I didn't get a keyless remote fob when I bought my Blazer; but I checked with my local Chevy dealer, gave him my VIN # and he said my truck was equipped to have it!:glasses:

We bought the 2009 2500HD LTZ and rec'd two keys and FOB's,
Wife thought we should have an extra key, I went to GM dealer and they sold me an extra key based on a VIN# Bar Coded tag provided to us by the seller....... $48.00 !!! Then I gets to thinking, what good is a spare key IF you don't have a spare FOB to go with it???

An extra key to... maybe hide on the truck itself somewhere so you never get stuck without a key? Of course at the price of these things... may as well just call for a tow!

You cant have a remote thread and not mention these life savers!

They show you how to program your remote for free! some will sell you a remote with no instructions and you have to pay $5 to find out how.

I went back to dealer and questioned them as to the key with no FOB.
GM sells the FOB for $114.00!!!!!!!!!
Siad if I was locked out I could use my "extra key that I paid $48.00 for.
Set the alarm, unlocked drivers door with the new key and the horn starts chirping, aka going into alarm! So me thinks I'm gonna try the eBay /online FOB's and try programming per this link above.
Thanks
