Hello to all. This will be a regular stop from now on.. My problem is my back door behind drivers side is stuck . Not a crew cab with 4 seperate door handles but the kind of door that the first regular door has to be open..I was told that the 2000 model was the first year that became an option. But back to the problem for some reason when i pull on the handle from inside or when i want to get in the door from the outside the door is stuck . It releases from the top but it seems to be stuck from the bottom of the door. I dont know why this has become a problem never have had a problem with this door worked great all the time. This is not a problem from me having a problem with the door before and i tried to fix it and made the problem worse. Is there some way to acess the latch at the bottom of the doorwhile it is stuck shut???. I noticed when i got drivers door open i see where the handle is should i take that off or would it make problems worse..Thanks for any advice..

Never mind iam taking in truck for oil change and a new serpantine belt will have door handle fixed at dealer. Not normal dealer who overprices everything this is a small dealer really nice shop do the job right by qualified mechanics. I dont go to those quick oil change places alot of therm hire anyone and rotate them often.. I used to go them but everysince ive had silverado i go to the dealer now. I will let everyone know what dealer finds out to pass on the informationabout the door handle problem..

hello Got truck back today .The problem with the door was is there a rod when pulling the handle and it hooks to the bottom and top of the door to hold it . There are retainig clips that came loose . They rehooked it back together and put new retainer clips on it. Works fine now .. Also had serpantine belt replaced found out that my truck has an extra belt on it for the air conditioner had it replaced to. Also had oil changed. The door thing i could have never done bymyshelf . Some things the dealer can only do. Like i said before a small dealer .. Take care to all.

Oh wow man I'm sorry no one ever chimed in to help you out :( I'm glad you got the door taken care of. It also happened on my 2000 Silverado Ext Cab. It didn't happen to me but when I bought the truck, the receipt for the fixed described the same exact problem you had. Hopefully you stick around the site. Sorry your thread slipped through the cracks.
BTW, welcome!
