Ok, I'm trying to hook up the remote turn on wire for my amp. I have the oem radio which doesn't supply a remote turn on wire. I've read several post on here about running the remote turn on wire to the ignition accessory wire or the yellow dimmer wire behind the radio (which I've read that you could lose all your instrument lights if your not careful). I've spent about 2 hours trying to find a accessory wire that is only on when the car is on and i can't find one.
Does anyone know an exact wire to use for this? I've tried everything I can think of and I'm about ready to trade in this chevy and go back to a ford ranger! errrrrrr.
Thanks,
Chris:gasp:

Hmmm why would you switch back over to another vehicle over a stock radio? What makes sense to me is to spend about a $100 on a brand new radio instead of a couple $K on an old car...

... not to mention that you've driven your chevy off the lot so its probably depreciated a couple $K as well.. be rational and maybe even ask a local radio installing garage for a few pointers.. there is a site called www.the12volt.com that gives a bunch of wiring diagrams and should be able to help you out some if you know what you need and are looking for.

Why not just go to the truck fuse panel and find a fuse that's only hot with the ignition....like the switched radio power fuse. Easy cheesy, japaneesy

if you go to the ignition harness, which is easily assessable, its right below the steering colum just under the dash on the drivers side, you can use either the orange, or brown wire. these are both accessory wires. just test them first. good luck!

Ok, well I finally got it. I bought a "add a circuit" and ended up running it off the daytime running lamps. Kind of a two for one. I can just turn it off by turning the dial or turn it back on.
Thanks for you help!
