inner tie rod / 2000 silverado 1500 4x4

When replacing the inner tie rod on a 2000 silverado 1500 4x4, does the relay rod need to be replaced also? The haynes manual is telling me that the inner tie rod can not be replaced seperatly but, I was told at advanced auto parts that it can be replaced seperatly. any feedback about this would be appreciated. thank you.

The inner tie rods and the rod are 1 assy.I would replace both not just 1 though,also when you take off the outer tie rod ends be sure to count the revolutions so you can get the toe close when you replace the inners

Did you do a search on the Big 3 autopart sites for your truck and the part? autoZone, Napa, Advance discount Auto and see what weach listed, also check the dealer, I believe it is 1 piece......
