My first question is I have a really good deal on a 383 stroker motor (needs valve guide seals on one cylinder) with resonable mileage and it hasn't been beat. A friend of mines uncle just bought a new stroker motor and put it in his 84 K10 and is willing to sell me the other motor at a fraction of what it costs. My question is at about 400 hp should I invest in a 350 or 400 trans (currently I have the 700r4 in mine) and what about a stahl converter? Also if I change the tranny do I need to lengthen my drive shaft and will my transfer case work on the other 2 trannys?
Second (I guess it's actually third) I did get my carb working semi correctly, I haven't had to many little problems but unlike most holley 1850-2 carbs mine has the choke fresh air inake hose drilled. Do I need to plug this or should a vacuum line be hooked up to somewhere else to it? The truck doesn't run to bad with it open but it does seem to get a rough idle (more of a surging that you can see with the alt. gauage bouncing below 12 v) but it def. has more power than before. Any sugestions on whether to plug, run a vacuum line somewhere or just let it open?
