2001 locker?

We had a hell of an unexpected snow last night (in kentucky) and damn am I happy I went with a Z71. It had no problems at all getting through everything....my question is, do I have some sort of rear locker like the G80 on my 2001 Silverado Z71? For some reason im thinking that the G80 wasnt an option till 2003, but im not sure....please reply back..thanks!!

You can check the option codes for your truck. Open the glove box and see if the list has G80 on it. I do not know what year they started putting those in but it's a start. You can also call a dealer service department, give them the last 8 numbers of your vin and they can tell you what rear end you have.

hey bad, what part of kentucky you from? on my part, it wasnt all that bad, about 2 inches, but there was a few places with ice underneath

The Eaton G80 "gov-lock" has been an option since at least the early '90's if not the mid-late 80's. The first place to check to see if you have one is the RPO code list (unless you know of some "non-factory" work done on the rear end, then, who knows what's in there).

Yes you will have the g80 it comes with the Z71 package.Its been around since the early 90"s for sure. Don't know when they first came out.

i have the z71 package, and i didnt see the g80 code in my glove box, but i could have over looked it. there are 2 stickers with a bunch of crap on them one had a bunch of 3 character sequences, and the other has some other stuff, i forgot exactly. i assuming it would be in one of the 3 character deals, or would it be on the other in the vin # i think thats what it is

The Z71 package consist of locking rearend ,skid plates , shocks , heavy duty air cleaner and Z71 stickers. Do a google search on it.
