Hello All ! I am new to the forum and a new 2008 Chevy Silverado owner . I have a ? maybe you all can help me with . I recently replaced my OEM factory door speakers with 6.5 Alpines and added a fosagte sub and amp . I am now getting a hiss or feedback when playing my ipod or cds . My truck came with six speakers , 2 on the door , rear panel and two tweeters on the dash/windshield frame . It is a LS and I can not seem to find any info on this OEM stereo . Are these tweeters decent or should I replace and second has any body had this feed back noise or have any idea what it might be ? Best Buy did the install . I am thinking of replacing the head unit also .
Thanks ,
Joaquin

Does the hiss get louder with engine RPM? do you still have stock radio or aftermarket. Best Buy could be your answer too, they suck for install.

I hadn't thought about this but he is one to something you could be getting feedback from the motors own electricity.

It gets louder as I turn the volume up . It is the factory stereo installed . It only does it with certain tracks on my ipod and cds . For instance as a new track is coming on I hear it . It sounds like a fuzz , hiss sound . Like a cassestte tape use to sound . I'm thinking maybe it's the ipod . ???
I went to Best Buy thinking you get what you pay for and they are pricey . I am not totally sure they do the best job . I bought everything name brand , rockford fosage amp kit and such . For what I paid for intall and parts I could have gotten it for free on Crutchfield I found out last night .

Crutchfield is great, if you know what you are looking for order it from them. Pretty much everything over 129 is free shipping and free install gear, thats just their deal. And if you have questions you can speak or chat with online advisors. As far as your IPOD hiss check how the song is imported, it needs to be 128bit rate or higher 128 is cd quality.

it sounds like someone ran the power cables with the rca's on the same side. what do you think guys?

If it was interference from power lines to close to the RCA it actually is more of a wirring noise, like very faint sirens not so much a hiss, but like i said earlier if Best Buy did then who knows, THEY SUCK!

if it gets louder with volume and not engine RPM's, and its only on SOME songs on your CD's and ipod (and im going to take a gamble that the CD's are burnt), then the mp3's that you downloaded are crapy quality. alternator whine wont only happen on SOME songs, it gonna happen all the time (and its VERY RARE when only a sub amp is installed). sounds like bitrate problem to me... by the way, i am an installer at Best Buy.... We don't all suck....however, i have experienced, first hand, some really crappy jobs from best buy....hope you get it figured out! good luck!!

I'm in Tennessee and have had bad experiences with Best Buy and Circuit City (RIP) installations Some of the young installers are good but many are hung over or high I am sold on Crutchfields and with their installation instructions, I have had no problems
Can you rule out a faulty ground wire between the receiver and power amp?
good luck because tunes are necessary to good truckin'

I am looking to install aftermarket stereo equipment also, however, I already have the equipment and need someone to install it...My question to you though is where did they install the sub?? I was looking at some of those stealth boxes and they are pretty pricey...Im looking for just a box that will fit in an ext cab that i can put my own sub in...Any suggestion would be appreciated!!

yeah, someone on here has a link in their thread with a company that makes custom fit sub boxes to fit under the rear seat of newer silverados...can choose between single and dual...inexpensive too...like $120 or something

Hey CoachG08 .
They installed my sub behind my drivers seat and then i moved it to the passengers seat and it made a big difference . By the way identityPRS , best buy did get the job done and it works fine so I think you guys or ok in my book . What i did have to do is go back twiceso they could get my door back on right after installing two Alpine speakers . But they honored their work and to me that means everything.
