Leveling Kit

I have an 09 Z71 Silverado. The front end isn't as low as the older models but still enough to bug me sometimes. I put torsion keys on my last truck and it made it ride rougher. Just curious if you would advise to go with the newer style leveling kit or leave it alone? Thanks for the posts!

I installed a 2.25" Spacer on my 09. I have heard the torsion keys do affect the ride but I dont know from personal experience. The Spacer that I installed was easy to install and has affected the stock ride very little if at all. I vote for coil spacers. Heres my truck leveld out. Its hard to tell by the angle im at.

Bilstein Shocks make a front strut for new 1500s that is adjustable, uses stock spring. i believe it adjust up to 2.5ins. This kit is on there website

i may be wrong but i believe the NBS silverado's do not have torsion bars. At least my 08 does not. So the spacer is the best thing to do. Rough country has a nice one for like 70.

How did the leveling kit affect your headlights?! Did you get them realigned?!

if you dont re-adjust your headlights after you install the leveling kit, they will most likly harass other drivers on the road. After about a week of getting flashed constantly I re-adjusted them. If you open the hood and look on top of the headlight assembly youll see a white (plastic) phillips head looking screw. that adjusts where you light point. I just parked my truck in my drive way and used the garage door as a template to see how much i was moving them. Easy fix. ( there is one screw put headlight. they dont adjust together or at the same time.)

Good info. I was thinking about adding the 2" coil spacers to mine. I also got rid of the little plastic air dam underneath for more clearance (not by choice:lol:) A big snow drift took care of that for me. So I finished the job and took it the rest of the way off. I like the way it looks. Not sure if it will affect my fuel mileage much. Can't tell right now, it's winter. Do you have to get the front end alignment checked after the upgrade?

you dont "HAVE TO" get it re-aligned, however it is a good pratice to get it re-aligned. If you think about it you are changing the height/stance of the vehicle which may in turn tweak some of the geometry in the front.

I agree! The leveling kit is the way to go and should not effect your factory ride at all if you extend or replace your front shockks.
