Hello GMTruckClub,

I just found this site today and have been doing a little reading.
I was looking for information on how to lift a 2008 colorado LT 2WD, seems like a good place to be, for GM trucks.

My boyfriend recently put a CST 5" lift on his 2004 Colorado ext. cab 2wd LS, and it was by far one of the easiest kits that I have ever seen to install! I realize that your truck is an 08', but this will give you an idea of how the install goes.

Kit Contents: Pair of 5" front lift spindles, brake line extensions, add-a-leafs or complete spring lift replacements, and two of there CST performance off-road shocks, and a 2" carrier bearing drop bracket.

You reuse your front shocks, because you are not changing the stock telemetry of your front suspension. I would suggest changing them anyways while you have it apart, he bought the Edelbrock performer 9-way adjustable shocks for a smoother ride. ($100 each.)

The whole kit cost $1,500 by the time it was all said and done, and he did everything himself in a week. The reason why it took him so long is because he painted the entire frame, including candy painting some of the suspension parts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The 2" carrier bearing drop down bracket is a must have, you cannot skip doing this step. The driveshaft has to be marked in place and taken down, the bracket must be welded on to the carrier bearing and then must be reinstalled back into the truck. This is so the driveshaft is returned to the correct angle of operation, he has driven it now for a 1,000 miles and there is no vibration and it rides like new.

I will post some pictures for you, so that you can see some of the installation steps. By the way in his pictures he has 20" rims with the low-profile tires, he is currently looking for an aggressive set of tires for it so he's riding around with the low-pro's on it for now!.................AMY
