Hi Guys, John from Tampa, I have a 1987 S-10 4 cyl 2.5 with only 59,000 miles, great little truck. I just put rotor cap wires and plugs. It has good compression and runs only ok. If I try to accelerate to fast it will bog down, If I ease into the gas pedal it does better and then hits a a higher RPM and gives a burst of power and runs strong once you get it going. Any Ideas??
Thanks
John

the vehicle being that old, assuming under average conditions, i can guess that you have some hoses that are cracked causing maybe a vaccume leak. not sure what i am getting into there, but i have a cooworker with an older s-10 and quite a few of his lines are dry rotted pretty badly. i would start checking all you lines and hoses, make sure your wires are connected where they should be. did you do the plugs? if so, did you gap them. is this reaction due to the tune up or was it pre-existing? and welcome

New problem, I did replace some old vacuum hoses will check again, Im leaning toward timing but I am not sure about the instructions on the radiator support. It says ground out the lead to the computer. Im have access to a timing light but hesitant ground out something leading to the computer. And not sure which wire.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I was able to locate the disconnect for the computer under the dash and advanced the timing to about 14 degrees, RUNS GOOD now without any knock or running hot, only a few vacuum lines, instead of cutting back a few ends I'm replacing them all.
My neighbors dad bought this new back in 1987 and it is still clean as a whistle with only 59K miles, cool little truck. I didn't need it but I couldn't pass it up. And now I think its the neatest thing. Very nostalgic will post some pictures,
Thanks Again
John
