I have a 79 chevy pickup with a 350 engine and not sure what year the engine is but i am tring to set the timing on it. Can anyone help me? I need to find out what year the 350 is? and what the timing degree should be?

Which timing are you trying to set? Distributor timing, or cam/crank timing? For distributor timing, I think it's set at 0 degrees, but don't quote me on that, I don't have a manual laying by me. Do you need to know the entire procedure for setting timing, or just what offset it needs? The more info you can provide on your vehicle will helps us help you! :great:

yea crank timing i know how to set it up and adjust it just don't know what optimal degree should be?

4 degree TDC with the vacuum advance disconnected. It may vary a degree or so depending on the wear in the distributor,cam shaft. Just make sure the fly weights are working and the teflon tabs are under the fly weights to prevent binding.
