The driver's side door latch cover broke off fully yesterday, it's got four snaps on the back that I knew one was broken, then a second and finally a third broke off. The local dealership wants $60 for it, I called AB Chevrolet Truck parts in Kennedale, Texas and they said they would let me pull one for $20.

So we showed up, just a great bunch of guys, very friendly and helpful, they pointed the way and we walked out. Well, for a 4 1/2 year old boy it was even more exciting that going to see the Wiggles or something like that. "Wow, look at all these wrecked trucks! People need to drive more carefully!"

Anyhow, they only had three trailblazers so we took a look. The first one had a broken piece just like I was looking for, same for the third one. The second one had the piece, but it was for a full power leather seat with extra knobs, so I decided not to get it.

Anyhow, time is money so I'll probably look online or get it from the stealership if I have to. But it was a good day overall at the boneyard, the boy wants to go back, he's just telling everyone he sees about going to the "wrecking place".

Sounds like a good day! I have to admit... I pretty much act like that on the inside when I go to the salvage yard. I hope something else breaks soon so you have an excuse to go back! :)

I love the junk yard! Took my daughter there and she loved it thougt was neat to take all the parts off

A few years back the local u pull it yards would have pull a thons you paid $25 and what ever you could carry out with out dropping you could have!

Saw 4 big boys put a motor and tranny on a hood and shuffle their way out the gate! :gasp:

Would love to hit one of those again!

I miss the u-pull-it type of yards.. no pressure, no need to know the name of that thing that holds the latch of the handle onto that plastic washer thing... Bring a coke, box of tools, and take an urban nature hike!

Yes they still do pull a thons by my house, my dad got a "rock crusher transmission" out of a 69' Camaro. That was such a bug deal to him too, even though he had to carry it out like 1/4 mile to the front gate. He has never taken me to the junk yard yet 26 years later, he said that I would probably take every shiny piece of trim or chrome off of a Silverado and try and make it to the gate. I told him that I wouldn't, but he didn't believe me (not that I can blame him!)

Shame on him it should be a father daughter prerequisite to visit the junkyard together!!!!

It's just so much fun!

If you ever make it down to Fl call me and we can make the rounds of all the yards in the area :great:

My dad has been begging me to go to Las Vegas actually, because he wants to cruise all the junk yards out west for old car parts. He wants to drive there with our 24' foot enclosed trailer and the Silverado, and pile it up with as many 57', 66' chevy parts that he can find and complete some of our projects at the house. We were actually in Florida a few years back for the Mecum auction and car show, my dad was too pre occupied with the show to worry about going to junk yards!

I will keep an eye out for ya, guys find cars out in the woods quite a bit around there

When I went to Alabama on a vacation I scheduled my trip around the times the yards would be open so I could look for old Ford F-100 parts

I still have some original steel door panels and some other odds and ends in the shed I need to get rid of if anyone has a F-100.

I used to have a long bed and short bed F-100 sold them both for $800 to a friend :gasp: both has 9 inch rear ends and the long bed had the 2 piece drive shaft intact and both ran oh well such is life.

Steve theres a Chevy yard in Haltom city on Elliot Reeder rd that has a few Trailblazers as of 2 wks ago and a Pick & Pull in Grand Prairie off loop 12 near the old drag strip. Pick & Pull's inventory changes fast and I havent been there for a few months so I dont know if they have a Trailblazer but their website should have a list.

I brought my 5yr old grandaughter to the Recycle yard a few months ago, she wanted to bring every car home with us.

when i had my trailblazer i had wayyy too much weight in the back and pretty much had no steering, well i swerved and clipped a construction barrel with the passenger mirror. it shattered. the "stealership" wanted $160 for one and the local body shop wanted $140 for an aftermarket one. i called the local junkyard and they got me one in brand new condition for $60. it was a pretty good deal in my opinion seeing as i saved $100
