Does anyone know the full history of the Suburban? How many body styles have there been?

That's a good question. I know that there was a major redesign in 1990, and before than sometime around 1975 or so. Not too sure about what other redesigns there have been.
I'll do some research and will post back in a couple of days. If anyone else know, please post away and let the group know.

thats a good question, because in all reality......the suburban name was used on the panel delivery vans back in the 50's also

The suburban goes back to the 1930's I think. It used to be the exact same body as the full-sized 1/2 ton Chevy truck ... just with a full box added on it. There must be like 7 or 8 different body styles.

There are a couple of websites that deal with the old old old styles of the suburban. Not quite the same beast, just the same name.

Found this site this morning, looks like it may have the answer to your questions about the various styles....
