I know the question has been asked before, but there seems to be a lot of new stuff out there now since this was last gone over on this board.

has anyone recently added bluetooth to their rig.
I have an 08 suburban ltz with nav, bose, rear entertainment.

has anyone found a new way to get caller ID onto the stock nav screen?
I ordered a Lockpic gmx-322 and hope to get it tomorrow. I will use that to connect a bluetooth kit in the future.

(I got the Lockpick through www.tvandnav2go.com at the same price as group buys and promo codes on coastaletech's site without the hassles. not the most professional web site I have bought something off of, but the price was definatly right)

PROBLEM: I Can't seem to find a bluetooth kit that offers a video out for caller ID.
the much talked up tellphone 5000vi aka raytell 5000vi aka pactell 5000vi doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere, and I think the company was bought and sold a couple times, now ego?!?

I also noticed a new Scosche Blue Fusion kit that seems to do everything I want at the price of (enter explative here) too much money!
has anyone gone there?

another site was www.pac-audio.com and quite frankly, they seem to have something for everything, but I was a bit overwhelmed. they looked more like they were more in the business of making it easier to change out your head unit than anything else. (I really wonder if they arn't making the lockpicks for coastaletech)

I also noticed some of the new Parot "M" line have a separate LCD Screen. does anyone know if that screen is connected via an RCA jack? where it would easily be connected to the car instead??? and if so, does the blue box that comes with the non video screen models still have the video out?

I know, it would take a maricle if anyone one person knew all of this... but maybe if we get a couple answers here and there, there might be a simpler solution out there than what has been done so far.

when I bought it, I was thinking that tvandnav2go were buying quantity from coastal... but this has a tvandnav2go label on the product. a new name, and is supported by them. I guess enough about poor customer service got out there on the net about coastal that whoever is making these things is using a different distributor now. Even the instructions are exactly the same off both sites. only the product name and web site linkis are changed. I got it installed tonight. it was a pain getting the wires crammed into the small space behind the head unit. but that was the hardest part. I did not have time to fully test it, so that comes tomorrow. and I am still looking for the elusive bluetooth kit that has a video out.

I have used Coastaltech in the past, and got good service. I am going to order the TVandNav2Go box for Nav unlock this time, though. about a 30% savings from them on eBay.

But the best Bluetooth kit i have found is costar- costartech.com, i believe. It does a direct bluetooth hook up, and utilizes the mike and speakers that Onstar uses, so no extra mike and kit to add. All of the others, including Coastal/tvandnav require a separate phone kit. Costar is under $300 for the whole shooting match, and installs with just one piece! Mine is in a box in the back seat, and should go in this weekend.

just noticed that the costar bluestar you have to unplug onstar and onstar is no longer functional. I also did not see weather that had any video caller Id capabilities?

my head hurts from researching bluetooth kits. I'm gonna buy a parrot mk6100. the small OLED Display will sit next to the hazard button in-front of the gauges, and the control will either get mounted on the wheel, or to the right of the steering wheel behind where your keys dangle where no one can really see it.
From what I have read so far, the dual Mic from Parrot will outpreform the bluefusion, and the costar disables the onstar. If I didn't want Onstar, the Costar definatly seems like the way to go. but again. I'm gonna pay 160 for this parrot. not 300-400 on something that isn't quite what I want. If I'm gonna shell out 3 bills, it's gonna do exactly what I want, Caller ID Nav Display, Onstar Mic, bluetooth streaming audio controlled with the steering wheel controls. and I am not going to compromise one part for the others.
maybe some day they will make what I want. and when that day comes, I can move the parrot to my cheap little hyundai that is not worthy of electronics. (I have to crank the windows in that thing)

But Onstar will never be important enough to me to pay 2-3 bills a year for it. And the phone mic and speakers is head and shoulders above most others. I have used BURY in the past, and they have a good product. I used a Parrot visor mount, mic was great, sound quality was so-so, and it needed to be recharged every few days.

Having cell screen tied to the nav screen would be great. Why GM didn't figure out what Toyota, Infiniti and Honda did since about 2005 is beyond me- except that their electronics always trail the japanese cars by years!

I know what you mean about moving electronics. I am getting ready to recycle the Cell antenae booster i bought years ago into the new Tahoe!

I have read and heard good things from user input about the Alpine unit, this is for ipod and bluetooth, you can then move it from car to car as well
