Hi I just registered yesterday. I am getting a 89 suburban v1500 in a week or so. I can't wait. It has 130k on it, new rocker panels, new inner fenders ,exhaust, all new lights, shocks, body mounts, gas tank, fuel filter, head liner and heads rebuilt because it smoked a little on start up. and after i get i plan on some mods like step bars, and boost the hp. So I'm new to this site. I was a ford truck owner but traded my 1999 f259 deisel for this burb and getting some cash to boot to put back into it .

:sign0005:Sweet truck. Simple mods to start with would be to consider a high flow air filter and a cat back exhaust.

okay, thanks It already has 3" cat back flowmaster. I thinking of trying airaid Cold air intake and spacer.

nice looking burb! I have a 1990.

Cold ir intake is not a bad idea but imo the spacer is a waste of money. Even with the cai you wont feel anything in the seat of your pants so dont expect much performance wise.

Thanks, I am getting my suburban this Saturday. Then I'm getting the hood and roof repaiinted because of clear coat peeling. The rest of it looks really good. Then some simple mods and my wife says i have to get a set of nerf/step bars. I see jegs has a sets of S.S. for $240. I hope I made a good choice on the vehicle.

Sounds good, i just purchased 1990 GMC Suburban 1500 also. At this time I am just looking for tires and to loosen the damn throttle, STIFF as can be. Keep us posted.

I have a 1990 and love it.. Its my "late 40's" project vehicle that will remain in running condition, unlike my project cars during my teen years!

I'm interested in what performance tips you get.

Nice looking truck, the old big bodies are my favorite. I'm also looking to get some more power out of mine. Have you looked into headers?

I would say the fact that you went from a Ford to a Chevy was the best improvment you could make. LOL I own an 88 suburban with a 370 hp 350 and I'm completely stock, at least on the outside. Later.
