I just replace the blower motor resistor in my Daughter's 04 tahoe. pos 5 was the only one that would work. If you bang on the sw and it starts working it could possibly be a bad connection. But if the blower won't work on any of the positions 1 thru 5 it could be a bad resistor. Mind cost about 66 bucks with tax at the dealer. Be aware if the original resistor has a snap on cover on it and will not fit over the new resistor you discard the cover and install the resistor without it. On my Daughter's 04 Tahoe it was located on the pass side near the floor you have to remove the large black cover that has 3 or 4 screws from underneth, the resistor is mouted towards the right bottom just by the blower it has two mount screws and drops stright down to come out. The pigtai wire connector to the blower is a little trickey to get but if you lean right down with your head on the floor you can see it. It was not all that bad to change. Good luck with your fix.

It could also be the control module. In my truck it wasn't the fan selector but the position selector that wasn't working right and thats what it ended up being.
