Anybody used the "Equal-i-zer" hitch?

Hi All,

I've been thinking about the "Equal-i-zer" hitch for a weight distributing hitch to carry a 6x12 enclosed trailer with a GVWR 7500. Most of the time I'll probably only have it loaded with 800 to 1600 pounds of payload, but there will be times I will load it all the way up--hauling concrete, small tractor, etc.

I get the idea that the Equalizer hitch is a few hundred bucks more than I might pay for a similar weight distributing + sway control combo. But, if it's going to make the ride safer, I'll spend another few hundred bucks. If all I'm paying for is the name, I'll just save a few hundred bucks.

Everything I've been able to find about the Equalizer hitch has been good. Anybody here have experience with it, and care to share some feedback?

I have an equalizer hitch on my 2 horse trailer. When you load the hitch you can see the truck raise up 3 inches as the weight is re-distributed. These hitches are very safe and well worth the money. The hitch I have is similar to the Valley hitch. My hitch cost about $179 so shop around. Here's a link to the Valley hitch. Click Here

We have a reese brand and curtis which are great and a little less $$. I prefer the round bar system.Shop around.

You have the Equalizer brand hitch and you got it for $179? Where did you get it for that price!?

It's not the equalizer brand. Mine is the old round bar equalizer that's been around for years. It looks like the Valley brand but I forget the brand name now. It works great and I'm happy with it.

I amalso looking at getting an "equalizer" for my 7x14 enclosed and have seen some on craigslist for as low as $200 but I really don't know much about what to look for in any brand and have been trying to do a little fact finding myself. It seems that most are being sold by those who "only used it once or twice". Whether that is valid or it wasn't up to snuff is hard to determine. My issue is a bit different from yours; I don't think I'll need it much but who knows. I've already got enough stuff I paid well for and don't use much. I think that for my purpose an easily installed, maintained, mid quality used item will be sufficient for me. Good Luck!

They are bolted on but I welded mine in place instead of using the bolts. That way they won't get legs <G>
