I've had my truck since it was new 2 years ago and I've always planned on doing some performance upgrades but before you know its been 2 years and I haven't done anything. But I've been looking around for a couple weeks now and from what I've gathered it seems like all that is available is the basic intake, exhaust, programmer. So I've got a lot of questions about these.

Intake: I've narrowed it down to the K&N intake kit or a Volant, and the argument is just conical filter vs. box filter. I do drive on dirt roads and take my truck offroad so I'm sure that has bearing on which one to get.

Exhaust: I'm just gonna have a place here in town do a custom cat-back exhaust for me. It's all mandrel-bends and they do it for less money than any exhaust kits I've seen. Probably flowmaster mufflers and I haven't decided on tips yet but it will definitely be split.

Programmer: From what I've read and experienced, its between the Edge Evolution and the Superchips flashpaq but I don't have too much experience with programmers and I've never used anything from Edge.

If any of you guys have experience with any of this or something I just need some suggestions on what to get. And if there's anything performance-wise besides intake, exhaust, and a programmer I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks,
Matt

-With a custom tune you will get way way way more gains than a little tuner chip thing.

and its around the same price. you should check our vendors.

-A mild cam will help you out but, you dont want to void your warranty on a new truck.

-Also you might want to consider long tube headers, if there legal in your state, and you dont require to smog.

-regearing, for those big wheels.

Thanks for the reply.

-I am hesitant to get a custom tune because then every time I add or change something, I would have to get another tune. And with the computer programmers I can change things as I please like tuning the truck for maximum fuel efficiency for a long road trip or maximum power and torque when I'm off-roading.

-I don''t really want to go as far as changing the cam, this is my daily driver so I don't want to decrease my fuel efficiency or do anything that would void the warranty. A cam is just a little more than I really want anyway, I'm just looking to get the truck up to around 400 horsepower (stock is 367). I thought about maybe some roller-rockers though because that would be pretty easy for me to do but again, I don't know if that would void the warranty.

-Headers would be nice but they are expensive (the cheapest ones I've seen were like $800 or something) and I don't want to spend that much on just one thing right now. I will probably get some headers eventually but they will probably be shorties.

-I haven't thought about gears, that might be a good idea for me, though. What gears would you do for my wheels? My new tires are 32.6" tall so they're only a couple inches taller than the stock ones and my truck has 3.73's in it now. I figured 3.73's were about what I wanted but I don't know very much about gearing.

Well I've been doing some searches and trying to find some information mainly on computer programmers (because that is what I plan on buying first) but I haven't been able to find much. The local accessory place in town carries Edge and Superchips and they told me that they've had great luck with all of Superchips' stuff but I've heard some complaints about them on here. Has anyone had any experience with any computer programmers on the 6.0 liter Vortec Max? Or any intake kits for that matter? They all claim "up to" whatever horsepower gain ("up to" being the main words) but I would really like to hear from someone who has personally used the part or at least know someone who has.

for the intake i would go Volant, programmer i would go with the edge, i wouldnt worry about regearing unless you go to a 35in tire

I just ordered a K&N and a Hypertech MaxEnergy programmer for my '07 Yukon XL 2500 w/6.0, I'll pass along my findings when I get them...
