disc brakes

i have a 88 chevy truck. is have rear drum brakes and i want to convert it to disc brakes. i heard that i can put all the disc brakes components from a 2001 chevy truck. i just plan to use the some components but before i start i just want to make sure it is possible and that it works properly. If any one out there has ever done it please give me some tips or lead me trough the right path. any advise will very much apressiated.

not sure if it will fit with just the components but if you do i believe you will need a new proportioning valve

but what kind of proportioning valve would i need. do i get if from the same vehicle i get the deferential?
