1999 tahoe sport 2 dr (5.7 liter) fan removal

got a leaky water pump and trying to get to it, got to the fan and how does it come off of the water pump shaft????

You will need a pulley "hold down tool". Can usually rent one at Autozone or a place like that. It will hold the fan pulley while you turn the long shaft nut. The hold down tool should also come with the open end flat wrench to turn the shaft.

i used a strap wrench to get the fan off when i did my water pump. worked great. got the wrench for $3 at my local discount store.
