I am thinking of taking a trip to NC from Fla. The trip is 700 miles, 1400 round trip. I have an 88 Jimmy with 6 inch lift on 35s. the tires have good tread left. The tires are BFG AT KOs. Does anyone have opinion on how much tread will be lost or if the tires can handle the trip. They are in great condition, ie. no bulges or dry rot or cracking. Thanks for the help.

I'm guessing you'll burn off about 1,400 miles worth of tread. It will actually be easier miles than 1,400 around town. I don't know why you are concerned.....

Your fuel mileage is gonna suck, and they're going to make a heck of a racket, but I don't see why you can't make the trip. The BFG AT tires are supposed to be capable both on and off road. I have a set on my Bronco and they're pretty nice and have held up so far.

I have three round trips from Alabama to Florida that are 1200 miles each on my 35s BFG A/Ts and they have LOTS of tread left. I couldnt see any ware on them after each trip. Ive done these trips for years in my Suburban and my Silverado, both with BFG A/Ts and I always get 60,000 to 65,000 miles from a set. I do keep them rotated, aired up and the front aligned.

Im about to do Akron Ohio to Oklahoma City round trip with 1000 pounds of cargo in the back. Im runnin Toyo Open Country M/T's, which hum pretty good on the highway. I've made multiple 1000+ mile trips---- whats your worry? Only tip ill give you is make sure you are rotated, aligned and balanced. Makes for a much more comfy ride.
