I have a 1991 chevy truck and when I first start it up and turn on the lights the dash lights, brake lights, and front signal lights don't come on. I have to wait about 10 min with the headlights on until the dash and brake lights come on. Do you guys think it's just the headlight switch going out?

If your truck has the older type headlight switch that is pulled to activate, the switch may be your culprit. That type headlight switch is known for acting up and failure. When you turn the lights on, try giggling the switch and see if you get any reaction fron the lights. if you do, try removing the switch and cleaning the contacts. If it still acts up, replace the switch.

The 91 was borderline use for the pull type switch. Typically they used the rocker type switch. I'd pull the switch out and check the contacts. I replaced mine (incorrectly) when I was having trouble with the rear lights and I was surprised how much dirt and crud was up under that part of the dash. (my problem was the connector in the harness at the rear) You may be able to tell more of whats going on with a quick look. Could be a loose contact, or you may see signs of overheating. I'd also look into a bad chassis/dash ground, especially if you've painted the truck.
