Hi folks,
I tried the site search engine but had no luck. If you find a link that applies to my question please post it.
I'd like to replace my OEM Ac Delco 7641
615 CCA
70ah
Type 48-6yr

Auto zone has a Interstate brand type H6 660 CCA for $149

Things I am looking for in a replacement battery are:
Must be same configuration, top post, etc as replacement. Must be plug and play.
I'm looking for maybe 700-800 CCA and better reserve than the OEM battery.
I will also likely have the Alternator rebuilt to have 50 amp more.

I don't want an Optima red.

Any ideas?

Thx

Hmmmm... looks like an Autozone Duralast Gold may be the ticket. 700cca, 750ca. Not sure above reserve minutes.

Anyone have any experience with these batteries?
Is Interstate a better battery?

Actually it's 600 cold crank amps and 750 crank amps. Good battery so far.

In my humble opinion you have a better battery now than the delco was. I have sold GM products since '79 and the one thing I was NEVER impressed with is their batteries. We still have at least a 5% fail rate in new ones in cars right off the truck. So again, in my opinion you made a good upgrade.:great:

You may want to look for a battery that is equivalent to a Optima Yellow Top. The yellow tops are a cross-breed of deep cycle and starting battery. I'd love to get a real yellow top, but I'm not made of money, especially for how many I'd want to buy.
