We are the happy new owners of a 2007 3500 Classic with the Duramax. My question involves oil and filter change intervals. We like to keep things a long time and are willing to go way beyond the manual or the readout for oil and fuel filter life in the DIC. This is our first diesel truck but the diesel tractors on our farm get oil and filter every 75-100 hours, is this an option for the pickup and should we use synthetic oil? We'd appreciate any help, thanks in advance, Bill

i work in a chevrolet dealer service department, and we write our diesel services up for every 6,000 miles using conventional oil and filter.
you can use synthetic oil, absolutely! we have several customers who use amsoil with no problems.
a friend of mine has an 05 2500hd with the LLY, and he changes his fuel filter every 10-15k miles. he travels a lot, and sometimes fuels up at different fuel stations. your mileage may vary.

I have changed all the power train fluids over to AMSOIL. Now I don't have to change my oil/filter for about 22k miles (3X OEM recommended changes) or 1 year. I have seen a little better fuel economy since switching it over too.
Just my 2 cents.
Take care,
