...when I got this truck it had to be safety inspected. The dealer would not pass it because of the rusty bumper. The truck is solid, no rust perforations anywhere except the rear bumper. Odd. I suppose it will be easier to remove the bumper by unbolting the bracket at the frame. Safety Inspection also failed due to torsion bar bracket broken. I haven't looked at that yet.

Those bumpers are a joke. You'll enjoy getting a new one at about $300

I looked at the torsion bar and bracket. Dealer invoice said the right side bracket was broken. Well, I looked and I see nothing broken.

As long as it is legal in your neck of the woods, I would get an aftermarket bumper from a decent four wheeling supply outfit. they are the same price or cheaper and made a lot better.

Thanks brianj. Although I think a scrap yard bumper will be much cheaper. I've been in a couple of offroad stores, nothing cheap about it.

You can get one from the GM dealer for $450, and that includes all the brackets and the plate lights. Got mine in Antigonish.

Was that at Eastern or MacGillivray's? I know, one is gm and the other is chev but they are all the same at this point :)

Usually the scrap yard bumpers are worse than yours. The yards around here stock new ones....
