Hey there guys im new to this forums but im curious to find out whether this would work out or not. First off i drive a Black '08 Z71 4x4 Silverado on 24's. I recently got the 24's but before i did that i went one last day mudding...... :(( big regret. essentially i hydrolocked my engine and finally got it fixed... had to test start and begin the process of taking all my spark plugs off and hand crank crank shaft etc etc. Well i finally got it started and realized that i snapped a cylinder rod and chevy wont cover it b/c my cold air intake isnt covered under warranty and chevy wont cover water intrusion. So i just came upon a '99 Z06 Vette. this bad bitch easily hits 240 topped out so my question is can i swap out the vette engine and put it in my silverado? i plan on making my truck street performance anyways but my friend suggested i do that and he said it would work with a couple modifications... Is this correct? I would appreciate any input in this topic. Thanks :D
wow how ironic ....

Your tranny wont handle the load, your rear end would need some upgrading to make it worth it, and you would need the computer from the vette, i am sure there is more but these are for sure. I would just rebuild your current engine. If you have the 5.3 you can hook the LS6 intake to it, some headers and a cam and then het a custom tune, then get a shift kit for your tranny

...So i just came upon a '99 Z06...
Be careful...there is no such thing as a 1999 Z06 Corvette! The Z06 option didn't appear until 2001. Just make sure it isn't a stock LS1 w/ Z06 fuel rail covers and badging.

I was about to say...didn't they use 6.0L in the C5 vettes?

you will definately need to beef up the transmission. Look at summit racing as they will probably carry transmissions for that may even be a 4l80/85e

The Z06 has only carried two engines since the started using that distinction again.
GEN 1 5.7 LS6 405HP C5
GEN 2 7.0 LS7 505HP C6

You need:
1. Upgrade (read basically totally replace) Front end, rear end, transmission, and transfer case, because none of them will handle that kind of power.
2.upgrade the suspension, because you will be pushing the chassis beyond anything it can handle.
3.replace the brakes all the way around with much larger ones, because she wont' stop real well at over 100mph.
4.three or four mortgages on your house to pay for all this, plus someone to make all of the electronics work.
Sounds pretty cool- but way beyond anyone but a well equipped professional shop who will charge you enough to bail out the countries' trade deficit. Trust me- I have two or three projects like this that will probably never see the road unless they are being towed away.Wish I could get back the time and money I have in them.
