Welcome to the club!

I guess as far as them being worth it, that depends a lot on who's using it. I had a Hypertech Hyperpac on my last truck, and I felt it was well worth the $500 I paid for it. I corrected for my re-gearing, my speedometer was able to be corrected AND the live monitoring was one of my favorite options of that particular unit. I never actually tuned the truck too much, but all of the other options made it well worth my while. I am currently looking at getting the new Diablosport Trinity for my new truck, because of it's similarity to the Hypertech one I had. The only downfall is it's $799, BUT it comes with the capability of 5 custom tunes so I think it's worth it.

That sucks! I hate buying things for my truck that don't turn out ot be what I wanted. Are you able to return it? Do you know if the programmers void any warranties?

I'm almost positive it voids the warranty, but you can take it off before you take it in for servicing.

Hi everyone. New to this trying to find answers. What is the superchip? Has anyone tried the Edge, bullydog, to try and get more mileage and power out of the 5.3? I have looked but cannot find a site or magazine that compares them all and evaluates fairly.
I am looking for any and all opinions on the tuners.
thanks

OakValley, Superchip is a brand name tuner such as Edge, and Bullydog. You can go through all of these if you like, but they difference isn't going to differ too much. As far as gas mileage is concerned, you aren't going to be saving money from it because you have to pay for the tuner and you have to fill up with 93 octane on most setups. Other than gas mileage, you WILL get a SIGNIFICANT boost in power and responsiveness. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Burdine.

going to dual the exhaust first, I think I will still get the tuner for the hp to pull the trailer.

To be honest with you, if you chipped your truck, you will get more horsepower out of your truck. Are you going to get dual exhaust that exits out of the back or what? Because if you let it flow out the back, all of that exhaust is going to be blown all over whatever you are towing... just something to look in to.

They should not void the factory warranty. That doesn't mean that dealerships will not refuse to honor the warranty but they technically must honor it. To be on the safe side, before you take it in, it would be best to return it to factory settings.

Yes it does, but as long as you reprogram it before you take it back in your OK.
I know the Diablo models store the original factory settings so you can reflash it back to the factory specs before you take it in for service or warranty work. Then do the fast flash when you get it back home and your all set to go again.
If they reflash it while you have it in for service as an update from GM, then you just save that new flash as the factory standard, and they can not detect you are using a programmer.( Or so my main mechanic in the back tells me anyway.:great:)I ordered one for mine a couple of days ago. I dont know how much effect it will have on it, but I will let you know once I have time to mess with it some.
