hey all
well it seems my in tank fuel pump has taken a crap at 170,000 miles...so its time for a new one
I checked relay its working so now ...im gonna pull bed ...and check connectors for juice ...to make sure its a bad pump
did some pricing and all the pumps are around $270
My question is .......if i put and electric fuel pump lets say this one ... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G3138/
will that be able to pull threw the stock bad fuel pump
i was told yes it will be able to pull threw the stock fuel pump
and i was also told no that it wont have enough oommmfff to pull the fuel threw the stock in tank pump..there will be resistance
anyone every try this
seems 80 for a electric fuel pump is a far better deal then 270 lol
but who knows
any advice would help thanks

I'm not sure if that will work or not. It might, but I'm just guessing you will have alot of acceleration and cranking issues. But I want to know what your truck did when the fuel pump went out becuase I think mine just took a **** at 167,000, but im not sure. My engine will turn over and try to start up, but will die out instantly. I was told it was the fuel pump but not sure if that is true. It only does it when it's hot but cranks fine when cold. Did your truck have simular problems when your pump went out?

That's what mine did when the fuel pump went out. As it got hot is when it would stop working

well for awhile the truck would have idiling issues here and there
it would act like an old caburated motor.....would have to hold the throttle down for about 30 seconds...then the truck would pick up and idle normal ...if not the truck would just stall
then one day i was drivin and the truck shut off and thats it lol
luckly i wasnt to far from my buddies garage ...towed it there let it sit overnight ...went the next day ...checked the relay and it was good ...i swapped it out for the horn relay ..
tried to start it and nothing....beat on the tank a bit and it started for a few seconds ....then nothing ....
the real trick is turn the ignition on and have someone listen at the tank and see if the pump makes a noise
mine didnt make any noise .....so i replaced the pump with a Delphi pump from Napa.....and so far it runs fine
truck is at 170.000 miles btw ...pump was an ac delco so i assume it was stock
hope that helps
