ok hi im new to the forum, but i joined because in a couple of months i am looking at geting a 04 silverado. I want a 4 door and i plan on puting 33's and small lift. I just wanted to know what has more potential for being a fast truck: a 2500hd or 1500. Note that i want a 4 door and the tires and lift. I would like to put a turbo in what ever i get if it is worth it and bolt-ons. I have seen many 2500s with turbos runng fairly fast qrt. mile times and i cant find much on a turbocharged 1500 crew cab. My friend has a 2500 with a stock turbo that he is goint to swapp out with a higher psi turbo, and i noticed that would save alot of hastle and money then installing a whole system. I just cant get my mind around how the 2500s have would have more potential speed wise seeing that they weight so much more, but i do understand that they have a bigger engine that could make up for it. What i really want is a 1500 and a 2500 never crossed my mind untill i found out about them being fairly fast.also, i dont know how fuel effisient the diesels are so that might be another factor for me to consider.
So if any one could asnwer my question or redirect me to where i could find the information on which has more potential, that would be great.

-Thanks, erik-

The reason you can't find any info on a turbocharged 1500 is they don't exist..... at least from the factory. A diesel 1500 is not an option with ANY automaker...... at least not yet. If you really want more info on the Diesel trucks check out: www.dieselplace.com (http://www.dieselplace.com). It's strictly a GM Diesel forum. The Diesel's can have more potential because they are alot more stronger and powerful stock than the gas engines. The diesel's can also be quite a bit more fuel efficient than the gas engines. It all just depends on how much time and money you're wanting to spend......

yes i realize that the 1500s don't come with turbos, but if i got one installed.. which has more potential? also, what besides the engine makes a 2500 weigh more? the frame?
