stock stereo and wheel

I want to replace my stock 02 envoy stereo, but i was wondering, when i install and aftermarket head unit will i lose the button functions on my steering wheel? and if so, is there a way it can be wired to make them functional with aftermarket head units?

That's a good question. I'm sure that there must be a way to get them wired back into a new deck. I think that it's got to be a function of the unit that you install, as they probably feed into the stock unit's plug just like the other stereo components.
