Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their exhaust, what they used and how they like it.
I've got an 09 silverado 5.3L. I'd especially like to hear from anyone who has a similar set up.

I have a custom dual exhaust rear exit on my 2008. It was installed as part of the SoCo conversion package. I have no idea what brand, someone here said they used glasspacks. It sounds nice. Low grumble and opens up on acceleration. Just a tad loud, but bearable. There are a bunch of posts about exhausts. Search and you shall find more information than you need! Good Luck, and welcome!

I have an 08 silverado 5.3 and have a borla exhaust that i like pretty much. Flowmaster is also a good setup imo.

Magnaflow cat back dual exit before the rear tire. I like it and has a nice sound to it.

 The "perfect" exhaust note is really subjective. Plus, I think that we all hear things differently. On the Riverwalk in San Antonio there's a bridge with a speaker pumping out this incredibly annoying high pitched ping that drove my wife and me nuts. My mom and dad heard absolutely nothing. The best way to find what you think is "perfect" is to join a local club and take a ride or sit in a truck with a system. The "perfect" setup for the sport truck guy may make your neighbors grab a torch and pitchfork.
That being said, I'm leaning towards a Magnaflow catback. Something you can look at to get into the ballpark is YouTube. Here's what I'm looking at, and coincidentally, what Stouffer has - YouTube- 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 5.3L #12219 Magnaflow Revs/Idle.

I have always been a big Magnaflow guy, I have tried other brands (Flowmaster, Gibson, Dynomax) but to me none sound as good. Magnaflow cat-back systems can be pricey but you can always just buy a muffler and have an exhaust shop put it in for cheaper. Just my $0.02

i have got a 4" in 4" out super 40 flowmaster but i dont have to run a cat so it is louder than heck but with true duels i think it is the way to go and it only cost me $165 installed with me buying the mufflers for $100 a piece but i tell you it is worth it almost as loud as when i only had headers only.
hopes this helps and you find what you need

I have Flowmaster exhaust on mine and I always turn my pipes out the side behind the tires. This works better if you tow a trailer. Its better than having the exhaust hitting you while you are hooking up the trailer.
