I currently call Newberg, Oregon home and have for a few years now. Although I originally hale from the Lone Star State and still carry much of it in my blood I love this beautifully green state despite the constant rain and liberals. I'm a GMC/Chevy Truck guy 100%, it's all I own. Nice to meet you guys !:great:

Good to see the site is popular in the NW. I found the site while trying to troubleshoot and issue with my Tahoe, back when it was just aimed at Tahoes. Have since added a Suburban to the stable, as the family has grown. Use the board mainly for research and suggestion on my own maintenance.

Spokane, but have lived in Oregon and Idaho too. Raised in the northwest but twelve years in the service put me all over the map. My dad is from Texas too 67Cowboy, so I've got "outlaws" living down there as well...always enjoy my stays in the lone star state after I get used to the "flat". I was in DFW once, climbed into the back of my rig to unload and could see the coast... (:meuh:). Just kiddin' about the coast 67, smell the BS? Good day to ya!! Kerry.

Newbie here, just joined the forum a few minutes ago. I'm in Salt Lake City, UT (don't know how UT is in the NW, but it's listed). I consider Grants Pass, OR home, but I've been here most of my life along with a stint here-and-there in 32 other states.

There's a post to discuss what states you've been in. How many states have you been in? (http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3948&highlight=many+states)
I think there was also a discuss as to where to put Utah. Northwest? West? Mid-West?

Well it's been a long summer and I've been so busy I havent even worked on my projects except for up-keep and a new chrome bumper and tailgate lock and mirrors and stereo system on the '69 K10 Suburban.
* TrailLeader, Dwill3015, Cableguy, Bonzai01, all you guys thanks for the welcome and I will try and check in here a little more often now that things are slowing down and the rain is here again. Yes, TEXAS is part of the great plains but we do have Mountains, Canyons, Hill Country, and believe it or not Piney Woods , Wetlands and Swamps !!! West of DFW is where the plains start; but east of Dallas it's "green as a gord" as we say, and south of DFW is what we call the Hill Country like driving over and earth sized Ruffles potato chip.
If you make it out to the El Paso area you'll think you made it to the Grand Canyon all the way up to Amarillo !!! I've had people come to me and laugh and say that TX is nothing but a flat-hot-dry-rock but it depends on where and when you go.
:happy:I love the Salem area of Oregon because it is so much like the part of east TX where I was born and plan on staying here the rest of my days (truly the end of my trail).

Hey Brian,
I have lived in the mountains shadow all my life and still have never been to the observation place. I live on the South side of it so I would have to travel North on I-5 to Castle Rock, and then East past the town of Toutle to observe the devistation.
Merry Christmas!

You know I lived in Spokane when St. Helens went off, hard to believe that was 27 years ago, will be 28 years in a few months. WHAAA??? Where did the time go?
In the mid 90's, I had the opportunity to go up to St. Helens before they built that observation area, they say that by that time it was pretty cool, becuase you could go right up to that massive (1000 foot?) drop and look down at your own fate. You could also get cell reception at that time up there and could call your friends by 10 am on a saturday morning and ask them what they accomplished that day.
Anyhow, when the mountain went off I remember the sky getting dark backwards ... from the west to the east and we had to come inside on a Sunday afternoon, I was 6 1/2 at the time. No school for a week I think. We had to wear masks and I think we didn't see the sun for like a week or so. Pretty strange times.

I've been through Baker City!
I moved from Seattle to Dallas in the summer of 1999, took 4 days to do the drive and I stopped for the first night somewhere around (maybe in?) your city. Seems like it was a Best Western. Pulled in around 10 PM and pulled back out around 9 AM.

Hello, I live in Renton Washington and I look forward to talking to people that live in the northwest. I have some big plans to fix up my new truck as time and money permit but It is going to have to be a few years down the road when I am comfortable with the balance of the loan.

just got it a couple weeks ago so haven't done much aside from the suspension and tires, the 31x10.50's wouldn't turn in the wheel wells when I lowered it so got some smaller narrower tires.
