Hmmm....Can we get a shout from all North Easterners!!!! Tell us something unique about your state!

I'll start....
There used to be a TV spot that claimed that RI was the biggest little state in the union.

You can drive through RI via Route 95 in under 45 minutes provided there's no traffic. It's also claimed that the state of RI, is the size of Dallas, but with a higher population. Probably also higher pollution!!

Try to get across Dallas in 45 minutes, good luck.

Maine where the USA's day starts.

I like Maine. I guess mostly because of the mentality of the people who drive there. They don't seems to be affected by the Massachusetts attitude. "Hurry up, and get to the next red light, and then wait, just to do it all again." or how people from southern New England will go out of their way to make sure that you can't pass on the highway.

The drivers I've encountered in Maine, always pass on the left, and then get right back over, and leave the high speed lane clear for other drivers.

You know you're from Jersey when . . .
You don't think of fruit when people mention "The Oranges."
You know that it's called Great Adventure, not Six Flags.
A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.
You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 A.M.
You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.
At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and
you know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.
You know what a "jug handle" is.
You know that WaWa is a convenience store.
You know that the state isn't all farmland.
You know that there are no "beaches" in New Jersey--there's the
shore--and you don't go "to the shore," you go "down the shore." And when
you are
there, you're not "at the shore"; you are "down the shore."
You know how to properly negotiate a circle.
You knew that the last sentence had to do with driving.
You know that this is the only "New" state that doesn't require "New" to
identify it (try . . . Mexico . . . York .! . . Hampshire-- doesn't
work, does it?).
You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND
a fast food sandwich.
You consider putting mayo on a corned beef sandwich a sacrilege.
You don't think "What exit?" is very funny.
You know that people from the 609 area code are "a little different."
Yes they are!
You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes toPrinceton--that's for
out-of-staters.
The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.
You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.
You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.
Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.
You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening
credits.
You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.
You know that people from North Jersey go toSeaside Heights, and people
from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South Jersey go to
Wildwood. It can be no other way.

You weren't raised in New Jersey--you were raised in either North
Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.
You don't consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.
You remember the stores Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel,
Bamberger's and Orbach's.
You also remember Palisades Amusement Park.
You've had a boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries.
You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.
And finally . . .
You've NEVER, NEVER NEVER, EVER
pumped your own gas

So many good points there. Ahhh Rickel Home Centers. I used to work there. They had the poorest setup from controlling shrink, and everyone knew it, and EVERYONE took advantage of it, managers included. No surprise they never survived. My Uncle, and his family lived in Newark, and we used to visit them a lot....and "What Exit" is not Funny at all.

Not being a native of NJ, I'm suprised to say that I could relate to at least 1/2 to 3/4 of that. Must have visited a lot more than I realized.

Good Stuff! :D :D :D

I am from NH and signed up the other day( on SilveradoClub.com ). Now this new site shows up and I am having all kinds of trouble signing in. Getting all kinds of error messages( In order to accept POST request originating from this domain, the admin must add this domain to the whitelist. is the big one )and it says my username and such was no good. My e-mail address was not on file and the few posts I made are gone as well? I had to re-register to post this.

South Jersey is a whole other state. People from south Jersey are pretty much considered Philly folks. North Jersey is the true New Jersey. Most of the things you hear about jersey are about The North. (Soprano's,Diner's,etc...) I live out in north western Jersey which is absolutely beautiful. Lots of farms, open fields, and only 40 miles to NYC.

I'm in Oshawa Ontario ,sign into Oshawa says "City that Motivates Canada"

Including Mclaughlin carriage company. About 40miles from Toronto.
Fairly nice people around here not as goofy as me LOL.

You crave Italian sandwiches at least weekly.

You use "wicked" as a multipurpose part of speech.

You take the New Hampshire toll personally.

The area around your back door is referred to as "the dooryard".

You never say what you paid for an item but how much you "gave" for it.

It's not a storm - it's a "Nor'eastah".

You leave your keys in your car and the next morning your car is still there.

You leave your car running while you run into a store.

You know what Uncle Henry's is.

You have been in more than one Polar Bear Swim/Lobster Dip or have witnessed someone doing so.

You use the phrase "You can't get there from here."

You use the term "The County" to refer to Aroostook County.

You know that Reny's is a Maine Adventcha.

You know who and what a "M*******" is.

You hit either the Fryeburg or Cumberland Fairs about every year.

You went to "The Prom," and not just when you were in high school.

You know what Amato's is.

All year long you're tracking sand in the house--from the beach in the summer and the roads and sidewalks in the winter.

You've had arguments over the comparative quality of fried dough.

You call four inches of snow "a dusting."

You've hung out at a gravel pit.

You think a mosquito could be a species of bird.

You once skipped school and went to Bar Harbor, Old Orchard Beach, or Reid State Park.

Even your school cafeteria made good chowdah.

You've gone to a Grange bean supper.

Levinskies has the best deals on "Sweatahs."

Bob Marley is a comedian, not a singer.

Canada is a day trip.

You know that the accent is really a perverted Boston accent.

You like seafood (lobster,crab,shrimp etc.)

You understand the theory behind Dimillo's floating restaurant.

You eat a Jordan's red hot dog with Humpty Dumpty potato chips.

Your aunt, grandmother, cousins, second cousins, fifth uncle, etc. all live within 10 miles of you.

You know that the Maine Turnpike is for the tourists; real Mainers take the back roads.

You've heard of a Maine Coon Cat.

You've come to accept the French Canadians and their man bikinis.

You know what OOB is and love Bill's Pizza.

SD Warren is a favorite cologne of yours.

Another Jersey guy here! Central Jersey, near Washingtons crossing.
Been here all my life (45 years), and I come from a long line of farmers. I, however have broken tradition mostly to afford to live here. Jersey has its pros and cons, and at times it gets a bad rap. We love it here, but someday we will retire to a slower paced, more reasonable area. Cost of living is way too expensive (taxes, insurance). For what I pay in property tax I could have 4 lakefront homes in VA or NC. Thats why my suburban is a 2000, not a 2008!

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.
You know that people from North Jersey go toSeaside Heights, and people
from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South Jersey go to
Wildwood. It can be no other way.

You weren't raised in New Jersey--you were raised in either North
Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.
You don't consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.

We are not Philly, but we do love the EAGLES & PHILLYS .Oh yeah,we are Pineys:happy:

right now i live in orrington,maine...i just moved a couple of years ago, i was born in fort kent...it doesnt get any more northmen then that....well in the US at least. and i got a few more maine things for ya.
.
you know your from maine when you:

-know what Big G's is and can finish a whole sandwich
-have been stuck in the a 3 foot "dusting" of snow on your way to alligator lake and end up having your dog pull a sled with traps the rest of the way
-for your 16th birthday u get a rifle, not a car. you dont need a car because u can drive the plow truck your family doesnt use in the summer
-family air looms are not rings and supper sets, but tools, rifles, and huntin camps
-you say dinner for lunch and supper, or suppa for dinner
-a least one of your relitives works for pinkham, irving, mcain french fries, or dead river.
-you have 2 tv's in your living room, one for picture and one for sound.
-the most famous person from your state is gary thorne, the most know person from your state (Paul Kariya) is from Canada
-you think that anywhere south of auburn is not maine, but the remaining part for the former Massachusetts
-you have to shovel snow to get to your plow, so you can plow out of your driveway, then plow your road, to get to work but 6 am.
-school get canceled only when someone has already died trying to get there
-when you have a camp on a lake that is worth more then any house in a 20 mile radus
-if you actually have a camp
you get a vacation from school to help harvest potatoes
-you use tanked steam from the local mill to hand zamboni your local outdoor skating rank so the high school team can practice
-you call hockey rinks "ranks"
-you tried making you own new hockey stick out of the maple tree that just fell down out back instead of paying 180 for a new vapor XXXX
-large farm equipment can drive down any road and not be hassled
-cops drive trucks and suvs because they need to....often to find ME!!!!!

more to come, when i get the time

Let's see .... I'm in Northeastern Pa
Pa has high taxes that are used to repair the roads .......
Pa has the most potholes in the roads .....
so wheres the tax money going?
Also we have a double tax on cell phone usage
We have plow trucks for the snow, you see them on the roads all the time
Like I said you can see them on the roads all the time (plow up in the air, spreader not going)
Also here in the northeast I think this is the only place that closes schools or have a delay for an inch of snow ...... look above for the reason why
Personally I can't wait till my stepdaughter settles down then I'm moving to Florida (where my wife is from) altho my wife would like to see a winter where we get snowed in for a couple days so I threatened her to move to Alaska .....
But Pa you have taxes, taxes and more taxes oh and don't forget we also have some of the worse delays when driving the highway due to construction, I guess they are fix'n potholes but it seems like they fix one another pops up beside it when they leave

Western New York actually. We are being slowly taxed to death. Our politicians are a joke. The economy is in the tank. All our young people leave for jobs elsewhere. We do have 4 great seasons and we are about as far away from New York City as you can be and still be in NY. I live in a rural suburb of Buffalo, a drinking town with a sports problem. The bars close a 4 AM!

Viginia has it all backwards. Mainly with doing the speed limit or even slower in the passing lanes, maybe thats the reason for all the crashes. Another thing I have noticed all the massive, one (1) car pile ups. let it either be a totally messed up car in the the wall or on the side of the highway on fire. The other day I saw just one car on top of a gaurd rail, nothing happend, just him on the rails. when i first moved here from Maryland, I counted 4 different cars on fire all in different places all around the Nofolk area.

Best lift kit is a matter of opinion so you'll get a hundred different answers. I am partial to procomp.

Amsoil makes a nice oil relocation kit. A bit pricey but they stand behind their product well. We have a vendor on this site. 1stsynthetics. I buy my amsoil through him.
