I own a 2006 Silverado 2500HD. It is the extended cab with 6.5 foot bed. It has the 26 gallon tank. I only get about 250 miles before I am down to the quarter-tank level. I would like to convert it to the GM 34 gallon tank. Is this possible? Is there room for a larger tank underneath the vehicle? How hard is it to do? how much does it cost? Anybody have any ideas?

I have the same complaint. I found this site (http://www.transferflow.com/gm_tanks_0.html) selling larger tank upgrades for our trucks as well as other years.

Mount your spare in the bed, and throw the 42 gal suburban tank in there.
Since the tank mounts on the frame rail, there should be plenty of room to change the tank to a larger one. It's more than likely going to be a little larger, but mostly longer than your original. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

Wow, those are some pretty steep prices for replacement tanks

I for one am going to spend the extra money for a 52 gallon Titan fuel tank which is a direct replacement for the stock. Then I will use my EFI Live to reprogram the ECM for the increased capacity so my DIC displays accurately.
