Anyone have 3.42 gears in a '03 to '05 Suburban 1500 with the 5.3 engine? What kind of MPG are You obtaining on the highway? Does it pull well?
I have 3.73's but was thinking seriously about a change. The only factory gears available at this moment are the 3.73 and 3.42's. Otherwise, I would go to 3.23 for the mile per gallon factor.
Aftermarket gears are reputed to make too much noise with the Eaton LSD pumpkin; at least that's what the rear end specialist told Me. I'm either going to have to increase the miles per gallon on this truck, or it's gotta go. Hate to lose it, as it's a sweetheart to drive, and so comfortable on trips.
Thanks in advance for Your input! :great:
