The 2008 Avalanche is supposed to not just have FlexFuel, but also offer a Hybrid model that's gas/electric?

I'd like to see that.

I thought I read that somewhere, but I don't see any info on it.

I wonder if it will be a "true" hybrid in the sense that it will switch to electric at highway speeds, and switch back to engine when needed.

If I had to guess, I'll bet it's going to have an electric motor that supplements power to the engine. Either way, it should be a big improvement for the Avalanche's mpg.

Electric Avalanche? That should shuffle down the road pretty quick....Not!
How many "D" cell batteries would that take...Uh ya honey are you going to the store? Ya could you pick up 457 "D" cell batteries please. Junior needs 2 for his toy so better make it 459.

I'd love to get a chance to drive this. They have been rolling out Hybrids lately, so we'll see.

Still waiting on the Chevy Avalanche Hybrid. It's funny because the Avalanche is in and of itself a hybrid between a truck and a suv.

I'd bet it will be the same "Hybrid" you see on the Tahoe & pickup. Either way it will probably cost $50,000 for the LTZ!

GM was supposed to be offering their 2-mode hybrid system as an option in the avalanche/silverado/sierra. I've yet to see it happen... most likely a result of the massive layoff's especially here in Ontario at the truck plant. I had the option of a 6.0 L V-8 hybrid in my '08 Tahoe but could not justify spending an extra 10 grand to get the engine when it's only rated to drastically improve economy in city driving conditions. I find that the 5.3 L flex fuel with the active fuel management is quite sufficient when it comes to saving on fuel costs. What more could you ask for in a full size truck right!... well... maybe it would be nice to have the hybrid if they lowered the price just a little.
