So, I decided to make a non vehicle related poll. Hope you'll all forgive me.
With oil prices on the rise, and cold season upon us, I just had to call around for home heating oil prices, which are pushing $3.00/gal as well. Kinda sickening to me, since it's not even remotely as refined as gasoline.
So how many use oil heat? How many wish you didn't, I know I wish we didn't.

Natural Gas baby! It's cheap at the moment and they just found the world's largest supply of natural gas under Forth Worth/Arlington/Mansfield Texas, so buy CNG so I get more money when they start drilling near me next year. ;-)

every year someone burns their house down because they try to heat their house by turning on the oven and leaving the door open. :-(

Swap that oil heater for a heat pump and tell the oil tanker dude where he can put that $3 oil.

We have a wood at my house. The wood is free so I think its as cheap as you get. I love the smell of burning wood anyway

I replaced my old oil furnace for a Natural Gas about 2 years ago, I don't really see the savings myself...., but its new. The garage CNG heater got hookup this week...and its rockin' in there now.

Wasn’t me, honest. Although I did think about it.

We have oil and we just got 100 gallons and it was $132.
This is the first place we haven’t had at least a small wood stove in. We really miss that, being able to come in and dry off those wet gloves and such. Not to mention sitting on it when it’s really cold to warm up those buns.

I have a 1500 sq ft log home, I use a combination of, electric, propane and wood. While we are home we use the fireplace insert wood burner to heat the logs up (they act as a huge storage cell and release the heat back into the home at night, kind of a passive solar in reverse) while we use the wood burner our 93% propane furnace never kicks on and our bedrooms being closed off we use 220 volt baseboard electric, plus I ducted the bedrooms to the furnace. Where we live power outages for days on end are very common so that's why the triple heat source. We do have the house wired for a generator but it runs only the real important things-furnace (if needed-I like the fireplace) well, fridge, freezer and lights in living room, kitchen and bathroom. We were able to lock in our propane rate @ $1.15 a gallon, we have a 500 gallon tank so we only fill twice a year and I have firewood forever around here.

I`m all electric but when the temps drop i fire up the old Timberline wood stove to help hold down the cost. Before i started burning wood i received a bill one month for around $380, needless to say it won`t happen again.

When we bought this house it had electric baseboard heaters and a heatalator fire place, then we installed an oil furnace for the next winter. Your pole should also ask about heating the playroom(garage), mine is heated by a propane furnace, which I keep at 60 deg during the day and 45 deg at night, but I do have a spare small wood burning stove that I could use as we live on a bush lot and have lots of extra wood. Good day, Henry.

Well, here's one for you....
I currently use wood, (outdoor boiler of my own design and build)
BUT... We will be moving to this (a downdraft gasifier hooked to a GM 350, running a 50 Kw AC generator)
If you don't belive me... here's my webpage about it....

How many halogen work lights do you use, I've thought about that from time to time myself.
Anyone insulate their garage door too? Parts of the world might do that if I remember right, in Texas it's just sheet metal.

Natural Gas, have an old wood burning fireplace in the livingroom, but don't use it very often. Gotta have the heat going up here (Alberta). Gas bill was $350 last month, had a two week cold snap where temps stayed at -30 to -40 (pretty rare though)
