  1. Tranny Disasters!

This past weekend I did some hauling with the 'Burb. Thought I'd get it out there for my first major trip in it since it's been laid up with a dead tranny. Well, I apparently wasn't ready to pull it out of the 'ol car-hole yet because it looks I was sold a bad rebuilt tranny, torque converter, or both. For the gritty details on this, refer to my post in the powertrain section of the forum. ( I am very dissapointed in my new transmission. I ...
  2. 2008 Saturn Vue XR AWD Review

    2008 Saturn Vue XR AWD
    MRSP: $30,945 (as tested)

I sat and looked at it for a minute. I looked at the keys. Yes, itís a 2008 Saturn Vue alright and I was about to take it for a spin. It looks smaller than it did in previous years. Less boxy, less SUVish, I guess it's a crossover now. Now it the next generation Vue, and the designers at GM/Saturn want to make it walk a fine-line between a compact SUV and a mid-size Crossover.

  3. Crazy day

Started up the day by getting a cup of coffee, then headed out to get the Trailblazer Inspected. Got that done, have them replace one of the license plate tag lights on the vehicle, so it would pass inspection.

I drove to car max to get it checked out. They did an inspection and found no frame or structural damage, offered me a lowball wholesale value (I'll post about that in the TB section) and that was that.

Then I drove back to Vandergriff Collision south, in Arlington, ...
  4. 80,000 miles on my 99 Cavalier

Just hit 80,000 miles on my '99 Chevy Cavalier this morning. I meant to watch it flip, but I stopped for coffee and looked down when I got on the freeway and noticed it was at 80,002 and thought that this thing is doing pretty good overall.

Since I've owned it for about 4 years, I've only had to do regular maintenance and put in an alternator in the low 70,000 range. Otherwise I've had very few issues with it. I do need to get the alignment ...
  5. Just as starters.....

Ok, for my first entry in this blog, I guess I'm going to just outline what's happened to my 1991 Suburban right up until this past Saturday (easter weekend)...

I'm running a 1991 Chevrolet Suburban 2WD 1500 with the Chevy 350 small-block and a TH700R4 transmission running to stock 3.08 gears in the rear-end. To the best of my knowledge, I am the 3rd owner of this truck. For the most part, it's still in the exact condition it's been in since it was built some 17 years ago. However, ...
