Conversation Between 1st Synthetics and High Voltage

  1. Great! Maybe we'll cross paths someday. Sounds like more fun than being stuck in breakers all the time. Variety would be nice!
  2. I own Specialized Power Services, inc. here in Michigan. we do start-up and maintenance testing on all electrical apparatus. We also specialize in cable splicing.
  3. I work for ABB in the dead tank breaker high voltage business. We do 72kV up to 800kV and fault currents to 80kA. Just finished a new 145kV... Where do you work and test??? We have an impulse generator that can do just over 2,000,000 volts but can't do the dielectrics for our 800kV so maybe we've been to your lab. We usually travel to Powertech in Vancouver or IREQ for the real voltages, LOL. Power testing, we have to run to one of our labs in Sweden or Switzerland. Kema in Phili can do just up to 145kV for us but after that, it's overseas time.
  4. I see you design circuit breakers. Who do you work for? The reason I ask is I test them.
