Can you say ... out of shape?

I know a wide variety of folks in life. Those that out outdoorsy, play sports, jog, play soccer, hike, bike, whatever. I've been pretty sedentary for the past couple of years.

So I'm starting to feel like I don't have any stamina. It's time for come cardio. So at lunch-time yesterday, I decide to do some stairs in my office building.

Ok, I'm not 18 anymore, but come on. I was panting and just about collapsed after climbing only 4 or 5 flights of stairs. I finally made it up to floor 13, so I did 10 flights overall, but it just about killed me. I guess that's a wakeup call, my heartrate was about 170 when I finally stopped and rested.



Now, the good news is that I feel better today than I have in a long time! I should keep it up and get back in shape, I'm still pretty young-ish. Won't hit 40 until 2013 ... which isn't all that far off, mind you!

    I did a follow-up stair climb two days later. I was beat, but I made it up an extra flight of stairs and my heartrate was only 150. I'll try again later this week when I'm in the office.
