I'm pretty excited, I ordered my K&N FIPK 57-series last night AND I also ordered one for my wife's Grand Prix as well! I'm jealous though b/c K&N claims a 16.77hp increase to her car while mine is only a 9.??hp increase.

I got a pretty good deal, I paid 239 for the truck and 291 for the car. Originally the 57-series runs about 297 and the one for the car is upward of 360 so I feel pretty good abt the purchase PLUS the site also had a Labor Day sale going on as well so that saved me another 5%.

If anyone is interested, I got the parts from www.wUndercarparts.com and their sale is only running through Sept 2nd.

Super excited am I!!

Ok, 2nd post and it's a HELP! post... go figure! I hope I've put this in the correct forum..!

I have a problem with the new addition to the family. Just bought a Suburban and here's what happens when I get to fiddling with the A/C control knobs:

In turning the knob (main/front one) to [OFF] the a/c kicks on. If I place it on [LOW] sometimes it stays on (blowing at max) sometimes it turns off completely. In the next few clicks the a/c just turns completely off. Again if I turn to [LOW] again sometimes it will kick on, sometimes it will stay off. If I turn it to the [OFF] position it starts up full blast again.

The only background I have is that the guy I bought it from just noticed it 'this morning' when he took it out for a test drive... *cough**hack*BS!*cough**cough**wheeze**hack*...

Anyhow... moving on... so.. oh yes, the a/c thing. So the problem only happens to the front controls. As far as i know the rear one works as it should, and the front control for the rear works as it should.

I have taken the liberty of taking a short video and posting it on YouTube. I hope it's alright that I post the vidclip on this site.

Click for the VidClip:
8 Cyl 7.4 liter Vortec

Again, no other background information available.

If anyone has any insight as to what I could be looking at, what the problem may be, or even how to fix it (short of bringing it to the dealership and saying "here, let me let you have this for a few days after which you can tell me how much money I should get a small loan for and then give you" ... no, I've not had ANY good experiences with dealership shops...) I would be more than happy to hear!
Thank you so much in advance!
I have done some minor adjustment on the cable that runs down under the left hand side (passenger side) but am unsure if this is the correct procedure or am I on the right track. I've been looking at a lift, and i want to get some 16" wheels and run 33x11.5 on them. I don't know a whole lot about tires and wheel's. How do i know the tires will fit on my new wheels good? Also, on my '06 silverado, will 16" wheel's rub anything? Does anyone know of any wheel's that look stock and cost almost nothing yet look kinda good?

Hey there,

Just got my truck and already startin the mods! I am planning on putting a 10'' sub underneath the driver-side back seat. I have already chosen the brand of sub, Ficaraudio SSD which I have had great experience with. However, I am having trouble finding an enclosure that fits the size of the sub and has enough volume to hit the lower notes.

I have read through a few other threads and all that I have come up with was an enclosure from "subthump.com." Looks clean and factory, but I have heard that with the size of the enclosure and the fact that its downfiring in such a small space, the sound can be muddy and unsuccessful in hitting the lower notes.

Does anyone have advice?? Would be appreciated :)
-Mike

Just thought I'd come on to say hey, hi, hello, and introduce myself.

I just came home from picking up my new baby boy.

1999 Suburban

Bought used and with some slight issues but all in all not a bad truck. 2" body lift and new set of wheels/tires are pretty much all the modifications it has. All the rest is pretty much stock.

I'll get busy to filling out my profile, and will soon be posting the one major issue I am having with the new truck. A/C problems.... ever have it blowing while in the off position and then off in all the on positions?!

Anyhow... more on this problem with my next post. I hope to become a regular visitor in the time to come and can't wait to tap into some knowledgeable folks' minds to keep loving this beast!

Thanks,

I have replaced the high voltage module and my suburban still refuses to crank. I replaced the fuel pump and inline filter a couple months ago. I grind on the starter and it will not fire. Sometimes when I let go of the key it will hit a couple of times and die. When it does crank it backfires a few times and settles down like nothing is wrong. I have had this problem for a few months and it seems to have gotten worse. Could a coil cause intermitent problems? Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks. Ben
