Unfortunatly guys i'm a solid noob when comes to car tech and **** like that! So I will probably be asking questions on this website really often in hope to find some answers!

So here's my fisrt concern!

Just bought an 08 silverado extended cab 4x4 w/ 5,3L engine. And i'm in the process of getting it modified.

But here's the problem, I live in a town far up north alberta. And everyone's got brand new trucks lifted to the sky with the most expensive parts you can find, and i'm not kiding like at least 200 and over...Anyways this isn't the problem, I totally dig the fly high style! But i'm also a big fan of super huge wheels think.

I dunno what to go for, and i'm really not carring of the cost and the disadvantage of both...If I go for the lowered style with big rims i'll be more careful of the roads..and if I go for the tickles the clouds style well i'll be almost careless of the everyday pot holes and ****!

Anyways for today i'd like to hear your tips and suggestions for the following question! THANKS A LOT GUYS

How low could I go if I wanna trow 26's rims on my silvi without rubbing anywhere?

And if you know what would be the best suspension lowering kit!

2006 SIlverado HD Grill

I recently took my grill off to sand and paint. Had it sittin outside and I decided I would go to the Football Game and I was in a hurry and I sat my grill on the cement to spray it off and It fell over and the side piece that goes in between the headlight and turn signal light on the passenger side broke off. Does anyone know if this is repairable or should I just buy a new grill with everything? I looked on gmpartsclub.com and they have the side pieces for 30 each, but I dont know if its the piece im looking for. Also does anyone know how to put the pieces back on? haha they wont clip in for me.

8.1 & Allison swap into 1998 K-2500 Sub

I don't know if this has been brought up or beaten to death but...

I'm on Craigslist and I spot a 2001 HD2500 being parted out with an 8.1 and Allison tranny. No problems with my big block or the 4L80E but, a larger engine and another gear. How do you go wrong? He also has the manual shift transfer case. What else do I need?

Does this swap work?

1996 GMC suburban 1500 rear diff

Hi i live in Sydney Australia and own a 1996 GMC suburban 1500 LWB 4WD 5.7 lt 4 SPd Auto o

I blew the rear diff last week and i Have pulled it apart and its a mess

The crown wheel and pinion are the only parts not damaged i am trying to locate parts here in Sydney and around OZ but no luck so far I can buy the complete centre for $1500 but as i am a mechanic i can rebuild the diff no problems.

Can anyone suggest a site where i can get a rebuild kit as well as the centre sphere which houses the planetry and sun gears as its not repairable .

Any help would be great

Speakers for my '91: 4x6's, 4"-inchers in 4x6 adapters, or 4" plates?

Ok guys, my new 1991 Silverado is in serious need of an audio upgrade (it has the stock speakers and stereo deck lol). Anyway, I know you can buy either 4x6" speakers, 4" speakers with adapters, or 4" component plates with seperate tweeters.

I want to stick with Boston Acoustics, but I just don't know what size. I've heard many great reviews about them from many different sites and stores, more than any other brand of speaker. I want a good quality speaker, because if I'm going to take the effort to tear into the rear pillars to take out the old speakers and put new speakers in, I want nice speakers that have good sound and reliability, so I won't have to tear into the rear towers again for as long of time as possible.

Here's the speakers I'm looking into:

Need a new radio

Hi guys,

The factory stereo in my truck is screwed. It tunes but the interference is horrible. I am not a big stero person...just like my talk radio :glasses:

So I thought I'd look on ebay for another factory stereo. Now the thing I noticed is these radios have some sort of theft locking/deterrent system.

Now does that mean I can not simply plug in a new one?

Thoughts?

Project "Bad Hoe"

Just got my body Kit Tuesday and got the front and rear clips on. I am pretty happy with the quality of the fiberglass that Sarona delivered. This is my new project "Bad Hoe" and it is gonna take some time and lots of effort. I would love serious feedback on new ideas, tips and anything that would help me along my journey to create one badass lookin hoe! This Picture is just me acting stupid with a cup of coffee trying to get the fitment test finished, the running lights are out and the the once white bumper is now flat black for the winter.
