'99 Sierra 1500, 4.3l. Problems began this time last year. Several codes came up, including p0446 and a couple of others (misfire & vacuum leak stuff). At that time, replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, vapor canister, vc purge solenoid valve (per TSB), gas cap, & intake manifold gaskets. All codes cleared, except for p0446. Scanner indicated 2 codes, p0446 & p0446 pending. Was planning to get another emissions waiver for this year (as we're at a loss as to what to do next), so went to the inspection station & got the truck failed a couple of days ago. Then yesterday, the MIL went out. Was ready to rush back to station to get emissions passed, but decided to scan first. Scanner now gives p0446, but the p0446 pending is gone. Also, MIL is lit (stays on, not like the brief flash of all dash indicator lights) with key in on position, but goes off when the truck is cranked. Previous freeze frame data indicated p0420, & now that pending DTC is gone, freeze frame data indicated p0171 Very confused. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Hello, I have 1999 Chevy 2500, with a 6.0 liter engine. It came with a factory towing package. This year I have no power to the trailer connector. I haven't hauled anything in two years. I have tested the wires along the frame up until the reach the cab of the truck and have no power. I also found a ground wire that was rusted up pretty bad on the frame. I grinded the rust off, and made sure it was getting good connection, but still nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I was explaining my plight with my recent thermostat replacement (that worked for 7 days then water started leaking from the water pump area of the truck) to my friends dad and he said i should test the water pump by trying to spin the radiator fan while the engine is off.

I didnt understand what he meant by this but is anyone familiar with what he might be referring to and whether this would work on a 2004 silverado?

He also mentioned that if the engine had alot of electronics on it, that trick may not work as it might've been for older more mechanical based engines.

Just to clarify the title i mean engine off not out, as in, engine installed truck off, not engine off the truck :-p

Does anyone have experience with the Spyder Halos?

Also it appears that the headlights themselves are included, but the user simply uses their existing turn signal bulbs. I would like to replace those with LED turn signal bulbs. Now seeing that LED bulbs have a lower resistance, I imagine that my blinkers and hazards will not function properly.

Any thoughts.

I just wanted to share my thoughts and get your as well. I was playing around on the Chevy website and for fun, I had to build my new 2014 Silverado that I wont be able to afford for years to come. But in the process, I had a thought. I love the look of the 18" OE wheels on the new Chevy. So my thought is, Im going to see if I can get a set and put them on my 07 Z71. After a lot of looking and research on aftermarket wheels, I am now thinking this is the way I would like to go. Now I just have to find a set of these. I'm thinking it will be a few more months before I can find a set, but who knows. What do you guys think?

I was driving home the other day and there was a lightning strike very close to me. The dash display fed from the computer went blank, including the info centre. Headlights , radio etc stayed on. I stopped the truck and restarted it and when I did the display came back but my analog gas gauge now indicated I had about 7/8 of a tank of gas even though I really had less than half a tank. It never moved for the next 20 miles but all else operated ok including fuel consumed, miles per gallon and miles left on the tank of gas? I filled up the tank and the gauge went to the over full position as it should. As the fuel was used the gauge again only went to about the 7/8 full point and stopped. The digital display for gallons consumed is working fine though. Any suggestions??

I can push the pedal all the way to the floor and sort of feel the truck slowing down, it definitely won't hold the truck in gear though. It seems if the pedal mechanism would 'grab' earlier it would be fine. I haven't been able to find a schematic or description of how it works or how I can adjust it, only 'your cables are bad' or 'change the shoes'. The adjuster in the middle is maxed out (and rusted in that position, haha), I could barely get the rear cables into the adjuster bracket after having everything apart.

anyone?

I ha e power going to starter (checked with test light) and when ignition is turned on I have power to my solenoid . but nothing comes of it. I took my starter up to a auto parts store the my checked it and it will spin but they kind of had to mess with it to get it to work. my starter gear will not come out when engaged, it will only spin in the housing . so I am having a problem figuring out if its a ground or what. I cleaned the ground in motor block and checked others still NOTHIng!!! I'm getting frustrated everything is ready to go and this is my only set back. please help guys I would really appreciate your consideration !!!

I've decided to finally address my check engine light and code P0449. I haven't messed with it yet to know if it is the solenoid or just a clog but I would like feedback on which parts to buy.

Here's one ACDelco part from Amazon which is what I'm considering buying...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Here's another part which fits my truck which includes both the canister/solenoid assembly plus the purge vent...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
It's actually $9 cheaper than the one above so maybe I just need to go with it.

Both from above need this wiring harness as well...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

What are the opinions on these and are the Amazon prices the best? I'm a prime member btw so free shipping on all of them.

Also, is the ACDelco part # 20995472 only for NBS trucks? Because the full kit for it is much cheaper than the others and looks to include hoses and a mounting bracket. My truck is a 2005 Silverado 1500 which I know the products I linked above fit.
