Same action if you gofrom a dead stop taking off and go WOT, tach goes to above and speed may be20-30MPH and no increase. Back of the pedal and let her get up to speed slowlyand it will twist the spedo till the limiter cuts her off.

hi guys. my name is robert and i'm new to the forum. my problem is the rear end on my 1999 suburban is making a loud roaring sound. i'm thinking the diff is shot. i'm about to take off the cover and check for meteal particles/visible damage etc. is rear end failure common on these trucks? i'm a pretty good mechanic, but i've never rebuilt a diff. so, i'll be scouring the salvage yards looking for a bolt in replacement. aside from low mileage, and particular options, what should i look for as far as picking up a good replacement? in other words, how can i determine if the new diff is damaged before i buy it? thanks for any help that i can get. i'll post back with what i found in my diff.

1995 gmc sierra V6 2WD

When I was driving forward today i was having a VERY loud grinding popping from under the truck near the fron end, Like something steel was getting ready to snap. I was having some squeking issues recently but it would come and go. The only thing i noticed was my transmission fluid was real low which is really strange because i checked it a couple months ago. added some fluid drove it around the block a few times and everything was quiet but as i said it just comes and goes but when it comes it sounds pretty violent i just let off the gas.

I know i probably didnt give as good explanation but does anyone have any ideas? nothing appears out of place, BTW im having the shocks replaced this weekend.

Been thinking about playing around with my 94 4x4 1500 once I got another truck to drive around. Wondering, what would be the best way to make a good toy out of it? Talking running through 4 foot of mud with only 33s that 2010 chevys can't go through with 44s. Currently a stock TBI 350 that has been rebuilt from the cam shaft upwards, new NPG 241C transfer case, and a regular duty 5 speed tranny *not sure what type >_> it's greasy and I'll avoid it if I don't need to waller in it* What would be a good motor/tranny/TfsCase set up. Not positive on the gear ratio but I know it's waaaaay lower than my 90 K1500 was.

Okay, so I'm leaving the house in about 30 minutes from the time I post this. If anyone remembers my post about the back firing TBI 350, well I still got the problem. Was popping on me on my way home the other day and I got pissed and dogged on it. When I did, it popped the transfer case into (N) while going down the road. I just pushed the clutch in and yanked it back into 2Wheel. When it went into gear....made the the EXACT same sound as it does when it "backfires" I've noticed it never pops when ideling, only when driving in a high range, or when I release both the clutch and gas pedal at the same time, any time I pop it into third and drop the clutch. Basicly any time the transmission isn't under stress from the motor. When I got the truck the all the bolts on the transfer case were backed out about half an inch and the two by the front drive shaft were gone. The thread of the TC on those bolts were wallered out. I left them and the front shaft off. *the guy said it needed a new clutch because the pedal was jumping, it was actually jumping because the transfer case wouldn't stop jumping around because of the front shaft free spinning* When I roll up to a stop sign or anything I can hear something from the transfer case, sounds like change rolling in a dryer. When it's towed, it makes the same sound and every now and then you can hear something hitting, like two gears catching on each other. Now, I have a brand new transfer case that came with the truck. Just been to broke to put it on. HOW MANY QUARTS OF FLUID DOES IT HOLD?! Both the tranny and transfer case. 5 Speed, Not sure if it's a New venture or what. I know it's different than my father in laws 98. We have visually the same truck down the the body style and color. Only his is vortec and has a different looking 5 speed.

- - - Updated - - -

Never mind, already got it all finished.

hi all. i have a 96 tahoe, 2 dr. its 4x4 and has a 3 inch body lift. its my frist chevy truck, and its top notch besides the tranny issue. now ive checked the fluid and its all good. i have a gm tech2 scanner at my work and scanned it and it has no codes whatsoever for anything. ive scanned it with genesis, snap on solus, and a launch scanner as wel and i have no dtcs set and beginning to wonder if im in for a rebuild soon. now the main problem:
i crank it up, shift from park to reverese and it makes a noise like you just hit the driveshaft with a hammer..same thing for reverse to drive and so forth. also note that while driving it that if i take my foot off the gas, and tap the gas again it makes the noise again....i have not removed the pan or changed the fluid yet in it, but most likely will do so this weekend. but its just got me stumped and if anyone has had this problem before id like to know a solution before i remove it and tear in to it...thanks.

1995 GMC Sierra, Bucket Truck, 55,656 miles

Story: 35 MPH #1 piston came apart and the connecting rod (which was still going up & down) beat the big pieces into little pieces; this smashing process bent the connecting rod until it punched a hole in the cylinder wall at which point the wrist pin lodged in the hole and stopped all movement.

Purchased a Re manufactured engine (Mexico) with a flat tappet camshaft that needs to be broken-in properly, which leads to my question:
When this engine starts for the very first time, would a new oxygen sensor be damaged by the burning of oil in the cylinders; I'm thinking of leaving the old sensor in until after camshaft break-in ? ? ?

My History, I was born in 1946 and stopped working for an employer in 2010. I served aboard the USS INTREPID CVA11 in the 1960s. The Intrepid is now a museum in NYC. As a former crew-member I did volunteer duty on board 2009 & 2010.
Last Year I volunteered at a water powered mill in Wilmington, DE.

In 1993 I replaced a (4.3L) 267 cu.in. SB with a (5.7L) 350 cu.in. SB in a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu wagon (everyone called it a sleeper). That was the extent of my engine swapping until now.
My SON just bought an electrical business from his employer who was getting out of the trade; the bucket truck was part of the deal. Less than a year later the engine seized and he wasn't getting the work he was hoping for (no money for the bucket truck). Enter volunteer DAD with the money for the engine and the tools to do the work.
Thanks for any advice !<img src="http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=51810&d=1367766736" border="0" alt="Name: DSCN1573.jpg

I could really use some advise.... I have an 02 Silverado 6.0l 2500 HD crew cab long box with a loud growl and/or humming noise. I think I have found the issue in the rear-end. with the tires on the ground I could move the pinion up and down about a half inch, after removing the drive shaft I could also move it in and out about the same. I don't think that should move like that but not sure???? found the RPO codes (gt5) (g80) did some research and found which rear end I have if it helps 14 bolt 4.10 locking differential AAM 1050 full floating

guys,
i have a 1990 k1500 4x4 with 5.7 and automatic trans.
it has 161k miles.

recently i have been experiancing intermittant pinging. usually happens when it is warmed up and mostly on acceleration between 1-2 shifts. its really strange, because it will do it once, then wont do it at all the rest of the day, and might not happen again for days. the pinging sound is like if the timing was off.
6 months ago, at 154k miles, i did a complete tune up, plugs, wires, rotor, car, pcv valve, and also egr valve and solenoid, idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, and the knock sensor.
at that time i also checked the timing, with removing the connector up on the firewall( i forget what its called, but followed the directions in the manual), and all has been well up til now.
a month after the tune up i had to replace the starter and solenoid, and at that time i noticed the connector for the wire on the knock sensor was kind of broken. pushed it on as well as i could. today i check it and its still on, but im still not thrilled about how it fits.

so, should i get a new connector for the wire on the knock sensor ?
do you guys have any other ideas where i might start to look ?
it is not showing any error codes on the check engine light.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
